When I first considered subscribing to "Build The Victory", I though I was acting a little crazy considering I'm an out and out beginner, but now I know different. I bought a Billing Boat model in 2006 ( St. Roch) and although it's ranked as a beginners model, I found it extremely difficult to build due to the ridiculously inadequate instructions which amount to little more than elevation drawings. In sharp contrast, the Victory has comprehensive instructions with detailed photographs, diagrams and text PLUS the immeasurable level of support on here. So in my eyes, this build is suitable for Beginners. Tom Quentin Tarantino - Hallowed Be Thy Name!

I have never liked Billings boats instructions, they are always vague to say the least, usually they say what to do then show a completed image, which to any beginner is not adequate. But I do like their boats, I have only just finished building the Andria Gail Ship Builds on the go

When i built the Mayflower..it was a billings nightmare .  but at least it was double planked ..to cover up the mess that was the first layer of planking..and vowed never again!!...but here i am building the victory (12 years later)...and the instructions are very good  plus the added bonus of help on here ...yep it is a good start for beginers....which is more than i can say for the lancaster..fiddly little %$#%^&*%! pieces

i was just looking through the instructions for the amerigo vespucci as cornwall model boats has them in pdf on thier site to view anytime.
they are horendous so im now really dreading it. but the victory does have good instructions, kind of wish the endeavours was a little better?

there u go. they actually have the instructions for most if not all of thier part kit builds. which is handy, i think the vespucci is the top block, if not just look for the block titled amrigo vesspuci 1/84 scale

Wow! Those instructions are MARVELLOUS compared to the St. Roch ones!! If you take a look at the St Roch Guide ( CLICK), you'll see that it is pretty damned pathetic. It shows a little about the hull, then a bit about some other parts, but leaves LOADS out altogether and doesn't show you where on the boat the bits go anyway!! Altogether useless!!!That Andrea Gail looks nice - wouldn't mind having a stab at that LoneStar! Post some pix. Tom Quentin Tarantino - Hallowed Be Thy Name!

Yes, spread over time, the cost of a small boat model isn't too great, but nevertheless, £90 is £90! Subscribing to the magazine makes it all so much more manageable doesn't it? Anyway, I decided to put my Billing Kit onto a Blog so that anyone else having a go at it might benefit. Having said that, I doubt anyone would benefit from watching what I do BILLING BOATS - ST. A small boat model is looking on the cards at the moe.
See how I get on with this big beasty over the next couple of months first.
I gather the Titanic Lifeboat is a deecent price to have a go at.

After i see the success/unsuccess of this build. I plan to spend a fiver each on the plans for various ships and boats then scratch them. It seems the process is as straight forward as this one is. Building them pretty much the same way. Keeping the cost at minimum. But i would really love the Pearl. Dont think they come as just plans tho. i dont know what weapons will be used in ww3 but ww4 will be sticks and stones.
