After the Jupiter Build decided to go back to a small ship build. This is also to fill in time whilst waiting for the next issue of my Orrery build The build so far as indicated by the attached pictures 1) The Box arrives 2) The contents of the Box 3) Attaching the frames to the false keel 4) another picture of the frames on the Keel 5) I have reinforced the frames by adding additional blocks to support the frames on the keel. Also to ensure the required 90 degree angle is achieved 6), 7) and 8) attaching the decks to the frame 9) Nailing the deck to the frames. I pre drilled the ply decks as I find this avoids the to potential for the deck to split The next step is to shape the frames prior to planking So far so good More to follow GilShapley attached the following image(s): Current Build:- [color=blue]Stash Avro Lancaster (Full Kit)plus some extra issues I picked up at a good price [color=blue]Built:- Norman Catapult by Mantua,Roman Catapult by Mantua,HMS Victory,HMS Victory XSection,Focker DB1,Bismark,English Carronade Titanic Lifeboat,American Civil War Gatling,Hummer,Sopwith Camel F1,Occre Jupiter ,OcCre Wagon, Latina Arab Dhow, Eaglemass Orrery OcCre Rogers 119 [color=red][color=red]RB7,OcCre Missippi River Boat, Model Airways Fokker DR1 OcCre London L>C>C 106 Ugears Scrambler, Ugears Hexapod Explorer UGears Off-Road Vehicle

Hi Gil I generally use a medium thickness but be prepared to work fast with any contact glue. I put a line of glue along the planked hull then lay the plank making sure its butted up against the next plank before laying it. You may want to use Aliphatic for the 1st plank so you can lay it in the correct marked position, Once this is dry use contact for the rest of the planks pre shaping to fit before the final gluing. Hi Gil That's a lovely little kit you've chosen. I'm sure you'll get a lot of satisfaction from building this one as I have done. Jase did a build diary on this one which is great if you want something to refer to, and it was following his build that gave me the incentive to have a go at it myself. I'll follow along with this diary with great interest. Look forward to the next instalment. Happy building David

I've built this one myself, it's a great little kit and will make a nice addition to your collection. Good luck with the build. You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

This build has been on the back burner whilst I considered my first attempt at second planking. I decided in the end not to use an impact glue (Lack of confidence) but continue with the evostick wood adhesive I have used for the rest of the build. The hull has various curved surfaces so I have made up some formers which follow the curve of the hull at strategic places and use these to hold the planks whilst the glue dries . This glue goes off reasonably quickly but gives me time to position the plank. Still some way to go but happy so far Pictures attached GilShapley attached the following image(s): Current Build:- [color=blue]Stash Avro Lancaster (Full Kit)plus some extra issues I picked up at a good price [color=blue]Built:- Norman Catapult by Mantua,Roman Catapult by Mantua,HMS Victory,HMS Victory XSection,Focker DB1,Bismark,English Carronade Titanic Lifeboat,American Civil War Gatling,Hummer,Sopwith Camel F1,Occre Jupiter ,OcCre Wagon, Latina Arab Dhow, Eaglemass Orrery OcCre Rogers 119 [color=red][color=red]RB7,OcCre Missippi River Boat, Model Airways Fokker DR1 OcCre London L>C>C 106 Ugears Scrambler, Ugears Hexapod Explorer UGears Off-Road Vehicle

Gil Very nice work on this obe - its looking great. Good choice with your second planking glue selection - I am hopeless with superglue tending to get more on myself than the parts i want to stick. Hope the rest of the build goes well. Happy Modelling
