I had an idea and wanted to get some of your ideas on it. I am at the step for planking the hull and then cutting out the gun ports. If I already know where those ports are, from YouTube videos, is it a good idea to plank up to the ports and omitting the planks in those areas so that I don't have to cut them out later. I just have read and seen how tedious they can be and was trying to think of a better way. Any input?

Hi If this is your first wooden ship build I would follow the instructions the wood provided for the Victory is not that hard to cut and after careful marking out the use of a dremel to drill holes around 1mm in from the markings make cutting the gun ports easyer after using the drill just join up the drill holes with a knife and then use a small file to get the correct size. Hi, I would have to agree with Andy here, if this is your first wooden ship then I would stick to the instructions as they are laid out. They are the best instruction set out there for this build and takes you through each step thoroughly. The business of cutting out the gun ports is not difficult but just needs good technique and a little patience. Would suggest you look at the Official build video here, it shows the process using the dremel drill and the process works just as well with a pin vice or hand drill.... https://www.youtube.com/.../ModelSpaceUK/playlists
Hope this helps. Regards Alan
