I had thought of that also, but it would require the table being quite a bit larger. And my plan, at this point, is to have black mirror plexi as the surface and to paint the white arrows and the elevator to the side to have the Falcon sitting on the Death Star. But that's not certain yet. Still have a year to think about it.

There have been other ideas I've thought about, such as what you mentioned and even a glass door in the case to reach inside and lift the Falcon top off.

The hold area is just a bonus.

The great work you have put into your hold you would have to display your Falcon with the covers off all the time which isn't practical.

So i think you would be best displaying it separately, as you have mentioned before.

Also the frame work on the prototype has changed slightly looking at mine.

So I'm actually up to issue 40 now. So I took a break from the hold and corridor lighting to just slam through some easy stuff from the last 8 issues.













So first up was checking out the vector plates and assembling the stabilizers.















This is looking cool.






Next up, attaching pieces to hull BP-28






















Attached the ramp LED to the frame





Then proceeded with painting the ramp. I chose to airbrush the ramp as opposed to paint brush. I also sanded down the little circle mold release areas on the ramp to make it smooth all the way, except the very top circle, which won't really be able to be seen as it's deep inside.





















And finally.... the ramp hydraulics and motor















And there we have it. Completed lower frame with ramp installed. WOOHOO. I've also asked DeAgostini to ship me a double shipment this month, which will put me through issue 48. At which point, I'll have all the plating to completely finish the bottom of the Falcon. Feeling much closer to the finish line.

If that last picture shows your knees in shot then it really brings home just how big this model is. Its certainly sonething unique as far as available kits of this ship are concerned.

Alright. Got some more done this weekend. Did the sconces for the straight corridor heading to the cockpit.


So here's a photo etched sconce. It's just a flat back piece basically of the sconce itself.





So what I've done is gotten a styrene tube, rounded the end, and inserted a smaller rod in the center to protrude from the end. While they're not exact, because of the extremely small size, black color and to the naked eye, they look quite good.












Primed and then painted black
















I then drilled a hole through the cushion and wall. I placed a piece of paper on the back side of the cushion to diffuse the light so it wouldn't be so harsh.













Glued an LED holder on the back side of the corridor to house the LED








And a test light of one sconce. Pretty pleased with the outcome.








Then on to the remaining 9 sconces and LED holders to finish out the corridor wall.











Wiring the sconce LEDs, corridor wall panels and floor lighting all together....









And here we have a finished product of one corridor fully lit and painted. I'm pretty pleased with how this has all turned out. Next, it'll be on to the two curved corridors for lighting.



OOPS. Just noticed after uploading the photos that the floor grill lights didn't fully light. My 9v battery is getting low and they only light for a few seconds before going dim. Time to get a 9v power supply to light this up.

Really amazing work!! Looking forward to see what you do for the exterior lighting.

Yea. That's something else I've been thinking about a little. Lots of little red lights all around the exterior of the Falcon. Some solid, some blinking. I don't think I'll do the flood lights that you see when they're in the cave, but I haven't really decided yet.

No. There are also flood lights on the underside of the belly that light up.

I see what you mean. I guess if your not planning to display it with landing gear really no need for them.
