Pack 6
Steps 1 – 17: Making the Cabin Seats.
Using a craft knife, remove the individual elements one by one from the pre-cut wooden framework as you need them. Finish each piece by smoothing it with fine sandpaper to remove the brown laser ash residue from the parts, taking care not to change the shape of the parts.
Following the instructions in pack 4 (steps 29 – 44) and using the pieces supplied with this pack and parts retained from packs 3 and 4, complete the construction of the single seats so that you have seven of them.
At the same time, also complete the assembly of the seven double seats.
Smooth off any small defects and imperfections there may be, then fit together and glue the two halves of each seat back SD12. Repeat the operation until you have 21 seat backs.
Take the plastic rods VA supplied with this pack. Check that they fit in the holes in seat backs SD12 and, if necessary, reduce their diameter slightly with fine abrasive paper.
Use a file and fine abrasive paper to smooth all the printed pieces of the seats before applying primer. Then paint all the seat backs and stuffed cushions (SD12 and SD11) Mediterranean blue.
At the same time, prepare the 35 armrests S90, S91 and S92, and paint them French blue. Stick the pieces to a strip of wood with a spot of metal glue or low tack tape to make them easier to handle and paint.
Complete the seat parts by preparing and painting the 21 headrests SD10 Aged white.
Paint one rod VA aluminium. Take one double-seat structure and two seat backs SD12 and fit them together, passing the rod through the holes provided, as illustrated. Do not apply glue, because the seat backs recline.
Cut the excess off the rod, leaving both ends flush with the seat structure. Repeat the operation by passing the rod through the holes in the front of the structure and trimming it flush.
Glue the photo-etched details C01 and C02 onto the two sides of the structure, as shown.
On the right side of the double seat, glue the photo-etched detail C07, as illustrated.
With a brush, apply primer to both the outer sides of the seat structure and when dry complete the painting by applying brown paint to the outsides of the structure. Then when completely dry fit and glue in place the two stuffed cushions, pieces SD11.
Complete the structure by fitting and gluing the two headrests SD10, the two armrests S90 and central armrest S92. (To identify the armrests, look the photographs on the back cover.) Repeat the procedure to end up with seven double seats.
The assembly of the single seat is the same as that of the double seat, with two differences: the photo-etched piece C07 is to be glued to the left side of the seat only.
Again, the armrests are not the same as each other. To identify them correctly, look at the illustration on the back cover which shows the pieces supplied with this pack. Repeat the procedure so you end up with seven single seats.

Steps 18 – 34: Finishing the seats and assembling the cabin.
Following steps 18 to 20 take a sheet of aluminium and, without cutting it, use a craft knife to mark two parallel lines along the long side, following the measurements indicated in the illustration.
Mask the sheet, leaving the space between the line closest to the edge and the edge itself uncovered. Apply a light coat of primer and then paint the strip with the maroon colour used for the floors of the crew cabin and the kitchen (Packs 2 and 5).
Remove the masking and cut completely through the second line, as shown by the dotted line, in the upper picture of step 20.
You will end up with a maroon strip with a thin metal edge, like that shown in the photograph. Cut this into 14 pieces, each 20mm long.
Glue the aluminium pieces onto pieces C07, as illustrated, at the base of the 14 seats. Put them on the right side of the double seats and on the left side of the single seats.
Bend the ends of the pieces towards the interior of the seat structure so they look like the example shown. Cut off the excess of the pieces, flush with the seat supports.
With a brush, carefully paint with aluminium colour the rectangular detail on the front of armrest S90 of the 14 seats, as shown in the photograph.
Apply PVA glue and flocking powder (as used for the floors) to the maroon strips on the bottom of the seats. Let it dry and then remove the excess flocking powder with a soft brush. Keep the leftover powder for later use. This completes the seats.
Take laser-cut piece P1, which forms the floor of the passenger cabin. Sand it lightly, apply wood filler to remove any imperfections and let it dry well. Then, preferably using an airbrush, paint the side shown maroon. Leave it to dry.
Following steps 26 and 27 make the carpet effect in the same way as you did for the crew and kitchen areas.
Apply PVA glue slightly diluted with water to the whole painted surface of the piece.
Sprinkle the surface with flocking powder to achieve the effect of carpet on the floor. Leave it to dry and remove the excess with a soft brush. Sprinkle more powder on if the finish is irregular.
With a craft knife, trim off the excess glue and flocking powder from the slots in which the seats will be fixed as shown below. If you like, you can create the effect of wear on the carpet using the airbrush.
Apply glue in the slots from the underside, then fit and glue in place the 14 passenger seats (seven singles and seven doubles) as shown in the photograph.
When the seat and floor assembly is fully dried you will assemble the two cabin sides and floor together.
To improve the adhesion of the glue, sand the contact area indicated by the dotted red lines on both sides of the passenger cabin as indicated in step 30.
Glue the floor with the seats to the left side of the passenger cabin. The end of the floor must be flush with the first rib in the front part (indicated by the black oval line).
Join and glue the right side of the cabin to the assembly made in the previous step. Ensure that both sides are aligned. Clamp the joint with clothes pegs or similar while the glue dries. (See step 32)
When fully set remove the clamps. This finishes this section of pack 6.

Steps 35 – 44: Wiring for the navigation lights.
IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO FIT THE OPTIONAL LIGHTS, GO DIRECTLY TO STEP 45 and ignore any references to lights.
If you are intending to fit the navigation lights, then there are two things that need to be noted:
1: The wiring supplied in the optional kit is red and grey. The instructions refer to orange and grey wires, so where you see orange wire please substitute this for red wire.
2: The connector shown in step 40 of the instructions is smaller than the one supplied in the wiring kit. Therefore when you reach stage 45 where the underside plating is started, you will need to drill a hole 6mm in diameter and not 3mm as stated.
Start the assembly of the navigation lights of your DC-3 by removing the part of the stringer indicated in step35 with a craft knife.
Thread three pairs of cables through the structure, as illustrated, and pass one end of each pair through the hole you made in the previous step. The length of the cables for each wing must be 150mm, while the one which will go to the tail must be 500mm long.
Step 37 of your instructions shows the holes in the structure that are used for the cables going to the wings and step 38 shows the exit holes for the cables which will go to the tail.
Strip the ends of the cables and twist together the three ends of each colour as shown in step 39 of your instructions.
Fix the two ends of the cable into the connector, as shown below. Note the polarity of the cables: the red wire is positive and the grey is negative.
Make the connection between the cables from the connector and those of the passenger cabin by twisting the wires together. These should both be soldered to ensure a good connection.
Insulate the two twisted connections with heat-shrinkable sheathing.
Carefully feed the connection through to the inside of the structure of the aircraft as indicated by the red/black arrows at the top of the picture. Use pliers to help hide the cables between the ribs. Once the cables have been arranged as shown, use glue (we recommend a strong adhesive such as epoxy or similar) to fix the connector to the structure of the aircraft, flush with the stringers.

45 – 55: Plating and finishing the cabin.
Prepare aluminium covering piece A3U1 in the usual way. Mark and make a hole 6mm in diameter, where indicated, for the connection to the electric connector. Do not make this hole if you do not want to fit lighting in your model.
Shape covering piece A3U1 and fix in place with contact glue.
Complete the covering of the lower part of the aircraft with pieces A3U2, A3U3, A3U4r and A3U4l. Keep the covering pieces A3U5l and A3U5r, which will be used later.
Now, you will paint the preformed pieces of the fuselage chrome. Start by masking the model as shown in steps 48 and 49 of your instructions, leaving the preformed parts exposed. Then with an airbrush, apply a light coat of primer and leave it to dry.
Next paint the primed areas with the gloss black base paint. Remember that getting a perfect finish on this base coat will give the best result when you apply the chrome. Leave it to dry.
Now apply the chrome coat on the lower part and let it dry.
Finish by applying the chrome finishing coat on the upper part and let it dry.
Carefully remove all the masking. Remember to handle the parts of the aircraft painted chrome delicately and as little as possible.
That completes pack 6.
