"build of the year 2016 entry" thought I would try my luck with this little kit from revell,it's the platinum edition with etch, brass parts and wooden decks.( even though most of the deck was apparently steel plated). This will be my first attempt at using an airbrush (thanks for all the tips lads). nightwisher attached the following image(s): Man he took his time in the sun Had a dream to understand A single grain of sand He gave birth to poetry But one day will cease to be Greet the last light of the library...We were here!

Well here I go, The hull comes in 4 parts so after cleaning them up I glued them together and left to dry. Meanwhile I set about the deck parts by scraping and sanding off all the moulded plank lines, and scribed lines to represent the steel plates leaving blank the ereas where the wood veneer will be fitted.Fed up with paying games workshop prices for primer I tried out vallejo surface primer with my shiny new airbrush and discovered 2 things, one airbrushing is fun and two this primer is fantastic, goes on nice and smooth, completely covers any filler but still leaves the detail showing through. Here are some pics sorry about the quality. nightwisher attached the following image(s): Man he took his time in the sun Had a dream to understand A single grain of sand He gave birth to poetry But one day will cease to be Greet the last light of the library...We were here!

Looks like a great start I also like Vallejo primer, it goes on great but sometimes it can clog the end of the airbrush up, but this is resolved quickly with a quick wipe with a q-tip dipped in airbrush cleaner. Unfortunately Vallejo often gets a bad name as it can be a right pain to sand or for being easy to peel off. I find as long as you leave it a good time to cure, typically I will leave it 2-3 days at least, then it's really tough. Look forward to seeing more of your build

Lovely start, looks a nice primed surface. As Dave says, dont touch the primer for at least 3 days, it will just rub off! After that time it's very tough and beautiful to spray too which makes it my fave primer Steve

Nicely done, great finish on the priming.... Thinking of trying out Valejo primer for myself, should be an interesting exercise..... .. Keep the pics coming.... Regards Alan

Hello everyone, thought I would show you my first attempt at airbrush painting. After leaving the primer to harden for almost a week I set about the poor girl with my shiny new neo iwata. When brush painting I tend to start dark and work my way up through the mid tone to the highlights, I figured it must be the same with an airbrush, I tried to get the middle of the panels lighter to emphasis the panel lines. I used tamiya masking tape for the camouflage and tried to keep the colours a bit more muted compared to some pictures I have seen, all paints were vallejo air. nightwisher attached the following image(s): Man he took his time in the sun Had a dream to understand A single grain of sand He gave birth to poetry But one day will cease to be Greet the last light of the library...We were here!

Fantastic work with the painting, it looks spot on! When I started airbrushing I made the mistake of applying the paint too think but you certainly seem to have got the hang of it quite quickly

Great job on the airbrushed paint, you're obviously a fast learner and I think any experienced airbrush fan would be well and truly satisfied with that result - very well done that man!!

Very well done with your painting, certainly would not know it was your first time! I use the vallejo air range and their primer range, very easy to use. I also like tamiya paints for airbrushing with their own thinners.
