So here are the final shots before painting the lateral sensors beneath the superstructure and the engine thruster. The outer ring is a top from an orange juice container I brought back from Florida. Threat of the shots show the finished item before painting and as promised not one kit part I have to say it has been an enjoyable build being able to follow the basic design from alien but making it look like a warship a decade previous built for war. godan61 attached the following image(s):

So whats been going on, as I said I wanted to make this look like it had been in space a whil perhaps on a combat patrol and had seen some action but to decide how to get there. First I needed to get the star trek look clean with loads of panels but need a specific way to get there so this was the process. First a white base layered apply low tack masking tape panels next a dark spray more masking tape panels Then a mid grey spray and more application of panels The following pictures show this process godan61 attached the following image(s):

Ok had a chance total some daylight pics, the first being shots of various parts of the infrastructure the front sensor array: missile and weapons section showing missile silos heavy weapons and also the main engine bell. Other shots show the drop ship bay with scout dropship launching. I wanted an aztec type panel finish but not the clean star trek finish I wanted to create a more aged ship thats seen service and been on the line. The concept idea was that this ship is a predecessor for the aliens ship the sulaco by about a decade hence the look and feel. The side shots shop loading bays that are lit up as well as the drop bay which is down lit. godan61 attached the following image(s):
