In Phase 4 work on the hull continues with another 2 ribs and 4 side beams to strengthen the structure. The deck beams are outfitted with further stringers to build up the detachable deck structure.

This marks the end of delivery 1 already and it's now back to waiting for new parts. Overall this is a very fun kit so far that goes together amazingly well. The structure is rigid enough at this point and so well aligned that I don't think I'm going to bother with screwing it to the building board other than weighing it down. The chances of it going banana against all these reinforcements seem rather small really.

Aaaaand we're back (finally).

Hachette encountered a bit of a problem called "being way more successful with your product than you anticipated" which led to some delay while packs were re-produced. At least that's what we're told

Phase 5

The sterniest (?) part of the keel is built up, connected to the existing hull and fitted with side beams.

This last segments connection is not reinforced yet, which seems kind of weird to me, but if they say it shall be done this way, I'm going to do it this way.

Gonna be a while until the planks go on, but all the stringers and side beams make her mightily strong already.

Phase 6

The hull is extended with another keel segment and the first tow parts of the central ribs.

The really scary thing is that she's not even close to her full length at this point. I hope the new furniture I ordered arrives fast so I van lay her down in a place she actually fits.

Phase 7

Another segment of the center rib is connected to the hull structure and fitted with four ribs of the forecastle. The hull is taking shape.

Not anymore she ain't because with

Phase 8

we have now reached the end of this delivery and the dreaded wait for parts begins. The forecastle is fitted with parts for the lower deck. They provide additional structural support and ensure the central rib and forecastle ribs are positioned correctly.

The build is now almost 1 meter long and has reached 3/4th of its total length. It is made up of 102 parts at this time.

The waiting game is the frustrating one this early in the build but when you get into the planking and detailing those parts will start arriving far to quickly BigGrin

Hey Andi,

that's awesome. Thanks and ordered. I've also ordered the 3D Superdrawings book a while ago, but it's currently hard to get here because apparently everyone and their mother got it when the Hood partwork started. LOL

Thanks magpie, but I got those already now.

Got some new parts in so let's continue with phase 9

With anothe part of the central rib the boat reaches nearly its total length. Four more ribs are also added.

Still nothing much to say, although positioning the ribs correctly becomes more difficult with them becoming smaller. The strengthening parts next update should help immensely with keeping everything in shape.

Unfortunately this project will be stopped at this point. The new parts I (and others) have received are a catastrophe. Whoever operated that laser, please stop drinking so much.

Instead expect a 1:200 KMS Bismarck build report in this space soon.
