Hi Guys, what colour should the decks be?

I know the originals are oak but what type? dark, medium or light oak? I know that they were holystoned regularly which caused a lightening of the natural colour. So would it be easier just to stick to a pale colour overall for all the decks?

Any thoughts? BigGrin

Just found Zaptraders "Decking/Caulking" which has given me a lot of info to go on with. I guess its up to me, my Victorys decks can be anything I think suitable. BigGrin

Hi Pam, great minds think alike. I was wondering if I should do the deck with a very light matt varnish???? And then I noticed the real ship had a raised deck (about 2") behind the binnacle and wheel running to the cabin entrances.. I really want to replicate this but not sure if it would throw the cabins outer facings off true and it would complicate things further. I have never seen the plans in any other build and was wondering if it was practical. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
