My question is when you plank from the top of bulwarks at the bow do the planks connect or touch at the bow end from the starboard and port side or is there a a gap 3mm? Some photos show the gap but when painted it appears there is no gap but solid down to the stem. Also for marking the gunports what is the best way to measure them for cutting them out. I know they are 15x15mm-6mm above lower deck-45mm apart. Where do you start? At the midpoint at the bow? What is the best way to cut them out?
Thanks

Morning Page.
The planks do have a gap at the bow which is infilled later in the build. The Gap is there for the fitting of the stem and then filled in upto the top after.

The gunports are tricky to work out. It takes quite a few attempts of drawing a line along nice and straight with the curve of the deck. Measure down from the top of the ribs to the deck then deduct 5mm. That is the distance to measure down from the top of the ribs for the line. Then space out the ports according to instructions. I would start where the bulwarks end at the bow end.

Mark the gunport as per then drill 4 holes one each corner but not directly in the corner, just inside the lines. Then using a sharp scalpel cut from each hole and diagonally to remove the excess. Then file square.

Hope this helps Page.
