I'm having difficulty constructing the second deck.
Having added the deck support's and the deck.
I've now found that i cant fit the support beam into the space left, if anyone has had the same problem or can think of the best way to remedy the problem please e-mail me.

The middle deck beams are a very snug fit to start with, have you followed the info to chamfer the edges of the beams, and they sit upright against the frames.

Do you need to remove 5mm across the length of the support beam or just in places? If the 5mm just needs to be removed from the end then it should follow the natural curve of the boat. If the 5mm needs to be removed from the length of the support then there may be an error.

If you can post images then please do so. If you have a mobile with camera then you could email them to me and I can upload them for you

I had the same situation you could as suggested in the mag sand down the beams to get the correct fit but it is a long winded job. i marked the rib positions and filed out little cuts with a square file to help the beams fit snug in position. you don't want to force it as it will distort the rib positions.

hope that helps

I havent got that far yet but I have all my gun support beams here, and some are 5 mm wider than the others, presumably for different deck so have you got the beams mixed up

Hi Dave210
If you have made an error, its likely that I have as well, but I think it's inlikely!
I had the same problem as you and came up with the same answer as Jase.
I offered the beams up, marked the position of the ribs, and then filed out with a
small square needle file. Everything looks 'right' with them fitted so hopefully it won't be a problem.
Hope this is helpful
Happy building

Can you point to where that is please, I think I missed it. Looking at the official build diary the beam appears to touch the rib at the top but is adrift at the bottom. Is that not correct?

Have a look at pages 10/11/12 of issue 19 which covers the installation of the middle deck gun beams, which is very similar to the installation lower deck gun beams.

Thanks but I can't see where it tells you to chamfer the edges. The bottoms of the beams are up to 5mm away from the rib on the middle deck because of the inward sloping angle of the rib. I presume the beams should sit upright.

hi all, thanks for all your advise. having read it all i plan to sand out shallow hollows to fit the beam into position using a square file as i had thought about that as a solution. hopefully it will work ok and not affect the rest of the build. i'll up date in a few days with how i get on.
thanks again
