Issue 3: Installing the seats

We receive the front and back cockpit halves, parts for the front seat, steps, a screwdriver and unmarked screws. Great. I hate this.

The cockpits are beautifully painted in my opinion. I'd never be able to get results like this.

They're also fragile as Fabergé Eggs, what with one of the halves parting with its side wall when I tried to remove them from the blister. Easily mended with a bit of CA glue.

Installation of the seats in the cockpit halves. One of the seats needed a bit of filing to get it to sit correctly, but nothing too wild.

Installation of the steps. These are falling right out again right now, so I secured them with some tape.

Hi Greyhawk, BigGrin

The detailing looks good, it`s a shame that parts seem to be a bit fragile.

Hope it strengthens up as you progress.

Keep up the good work.

Shouldn't be a big deal, the cockpit parts go into the hull part together with the IR receiver and lighting next issue and they'll be safe then.

Looking very nice.

With such detail parts and the scale there are bound to be sone delicate parts but sure you will manage to work with them.
Happy Modelling

Someone has already tried jamming figures in there, didn't go too well, ended up cutting off their feet to get them to fit. Not me though, I don't do figures.

On the other hand, 80s Kelly McGillis Love

The radar screens/MFDs will. There are however no individual blinkenlights like some do with the Falcon cockpit. Laugh

Issue 4

We receive the radar nose, IR receiver and some more instrument panels and covers

IR and LED boards fitted to the front cockpit half

The parts require quite a bit of filing ("schleifen") work to make them actually fit as intended. The radar bulkhead especially I have not yet been able to sit squarely where it should be. I suspect it is achtually impossible to straighten until the lower front frame is delivered some time in 2017.

Doesn't matter, still looks gorgeous.

2017? Sounds like a very involved build with this one then.

Looks really good though with what you have assembled so far.

Yeah, it's 120 issues, so the build will take until Spring 2018.

Today I SHOULD have received the central aluminum frame on which the rest of the plane is built. Only my newsstand wasn't supplied. Nice going, Hachette. Cursing

There wouldn't have been anything to build today anyway, instead the magazine would have talked about how to age the cockpit. I already did that, so at least we have that

Pictured: me not being all that good at weathering, but it DOES look better in real life.
