6 angle plates per side should be enough. Just make sure you do not put them in the way of where the ribs will slide into the keel. Happy Modelling

hello fellows does the keel have to fit tight between the brackets or can it have some play in it because my first bracket is a tiny bit loose Ronald

The brackets need to be a snug fit, otherwise the keel won't be held firm and risks the keel not being held perfectly upright at 90 degrees to the base.

thanks' Mr T but if it's a snug fit wouldn't it mar the keel, when you say snug is that tight snug or able to slide in and out smoothly Ronald

You need to be able to push the ship in with light pressure. When you start planking it is possible that the various tensions will pull her in all directions so it has to be tight.
It can be a pain when you line everything up drill the holes, screw in and it lose but if it's not too bad try packing it with thin cardboard until the fir is snug, as Tom says.
Remember also that this is the false keel and you will be planking up to it and then fitting the main keel later so any maring won't be a problem.

Yeah, that's what I did. I packed any slightly loose brackets with thin strips left over from building the launch

Hi guys anyone that built the building jig with the L shape brackets does the part of the bracket that holds the keel suppose to sit on the center line or keel does, I can get one bracket in place on one end and by using a piece of wood that the keel came from but having trouble with mounting the bracket on the opposite end with out being either to tight or a loose Ronald

As mentioned before the keel sits on the centre line so you can see it is straight and the L shaped brackets are placed up against the keel to hold it there to stop any warping during the build. The keel should be a snug sliding fit Rgd Martyn Building ? Completed. Soliei Royal . Sovereign of the Seas . Virginia . Scotland . San Felipe . thanks RGD but I got all that for some reason I'm just having trouble with mounting the bracket on the opposite end it either ends up tight or loose when, you guys made yours did you'll circled the mark in the bracket holes then center punched them, because that is what I was doing but I think the bracket moved while trying to mark it or my circle mark was off a fraction Ronald

Hi Ronald, If you are using countersunk screws , then the bracket will only sit in one position, determined by exactly where you drill the hole. Try using a dome headed screw that is slightly smaller than the hole in the bracket, then with a small washer underneath the head you will have a small amount of adjustment of the bracket. Hope this helps. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

You could also have fixed brackets along one side of the keel and slotted brackets on the other side, these could then be adjusted for any keel thickness and tightened using wing-nuts Steve

Hi Ronald Just a thought and there out of stock right now [they get restocked pretty quick usually] but this may be the way to go for a dry dock that will help you with your build. http://www.hobbyzone.pl/...onal-building-slip.html
