For those that haven't completed the middle deck as I just have, you may want to swap the fore and aft deck beams around.

The deck beams come pre cut the same length as the deck piece they sit on however on the middle deck you need to cut out the 2 entry ports. The magazine instructs us to cut a piece from the end of the longer beam and the cut a short piece from that to fill the gap between ribs 20 & 21. It seems to me that if you swap the beams around then there is only 1 end to shorten and without leaving a piece that is only 1 rib wide. The longer length then spans the joins in the decks. A more elegant solution I think but too late for me.

Now I may be well off base with this so it is of course subject to confirmation from Tomick and the other great guys here.

Sorry John I can't comment on any changes you wish to make.

Of course, I understand that, but hopefully you might have a thought or two if a proposed change was likely to cause a problem later on.

BTW, when you are finished remember to paint the underside of the middle deck, in other words the ceiling of the lower deck, which wasn't in place when this area was painted.

You are spot on. I thought the same but only after I'd glued the first lot. This is sensible advice.
