AMATI POUNCE WHEELS
Having placed an order with Cornwall Model Boats this week for some wood that I will use on my present build I notice a “new” tool by Amati listed on the site.
https://www.cornwallmode...p;TB=O&ACTION=Go%21
This new tool is described as a “Pounce Wheels Set” and is advertised as being ideal for helping make the sails on your ship models.
As all of the packing is written in Italian the rough translation is as follows:
Pounce Wheels for Sails and Rivets
Ideal to create riveting, on airplanes and tanks.
Practical to simulate the seams of the sails on sailing ships.
Made of solid material.
Includes 4 steel wheels with different pitch.
The Wheels are very strong steel with no flex as might be expected.
The 4 wheels included with the set allow for the following spacing:
Wheel A – 1.1mm between holes
Wheel B – 1.5mm between holes
Wheel C – 2.0mm between holes
Wheel D – 2.5mm between holes
The handle reminds me of an Olfa Cutter in design and seems robust enough to take some heavy work. It has a thumb operated safety cover to protect the blade when not in use.
When I get to making the sails on my build I will update the diary on how effective this tool is.
