Andy As ever that looks brilliant. Are you working from any plans for this one with the hull you purchased or is it just from reference books? Only asking as all your parts you are making all look so precise - if it was me i would be going through forests of wood trying to get the parts correct. A real treat to see this one coming together and looking forward to when you get onto all the detail as its a fantastic craft and when you think about when it saw service its a sleek looking beasty that would not look dated in this day and age. Hope it continues to go well. Happy Modelling

Hi Tony Thanks for looking in and your kind words. The hull came with a plan of an S-80 type boat which was the old bridge and mast version [ see 1st pic ] a nice enough boat but I wanted to model the armoured bridge or skullcap later version S-100 [see second pic]. It took around 12 months to track down the S-100 plan hence the delay in building her. I am using the above plans and also the Italeri 1/35 kit version as my main source's of information plus some books and there are quite a few online sites with information. The main differences between the two types are that the S-80 had an unarmoured but enclosed bridge with a small mast and guns at the bow and stern. The S-100 type had the open and armoured bridge with the guns as the S-80 type but the decks were redesigned so the 20mm stern gun sometimes a twin 20 mm] was moved to the midships position and a 37mm gun placed at the stern to give more firepower. The crews soon realized the guns could make a lot of noise but do little damage to larger armoured all steel vessels although smaller wooden vessels could take a pounding there torpedoes being there largest menace to shiping and there speed for attack and escape. regards Andy arpurchase attached the following image(s): Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Top work Andy, very skilful and I'm sure this will be another fabulous model from you once you've finished building it? I agree, I think the later S-100 with the 'skullcap' bridge looks better - more menacing and a little sleeker in profile?!
Well done Andy, looking forward to more!! drool]

Hi Tony and Kev Thanks for your comments the fittings kit will save me some building time but there will still be a good deal to make on her yet like more woodwork and some casting of parts in resin. Hi All After cutting out the main deck it was marked out and cut to shape so it fitted in the 2mm gap above the side stringers and the hull sides. Once the deck fitted properly it was time to mark out the access hatches so I can get at the gear inside the hull then cut them out by hand. The next thing I did was to set up the rudders for a three steer assembly from one servo , I could have waited until later to do this but there was more room without the deck being in place to get the set up right. Now it is set up it can still be removed but all that is needed now is some tweaking. Next the cross beams were fitted in place along with the two rows of deck supports between them and four centre cross beam pieces removed for access. Then the deck was glued in place using 30 minute epoxy. Next its the forward deck then deck furniture. More soon. Andy its really take on a great shape now you have the decking underway. Were these decks planked or are they steel? Looking forward to the next update. Happy Modelling

Hi Tony Thanks for looking in and your comments as for the decks they were made of a light alloy overall with some wooden slat type covering in the bridge and around the gun positions. Where there was no wood the metal deckarea's were painted a dark sea grey. Regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .
