I need an aluminum filler for gaps in the skin and small pits. Any specific suggestions for what to use.

I use JB weld for this.There are a few other metal epoxies too.

JB Weld looks like an ideal choice, especially as it`s readily available in the USA.

I`ve just found a UK distributor and there is a very wide range of JB Weld products available for numerous applications.
