Hi all! I have not visited here for a long time. On this February, DeAGOSTINI Japan's new weekly part work, "Thunderbirds 2 and rescue vehicles" has started. I send some pictures of the parts and printed matters of Volume 1,2,3 and 4. I have not made up my mind to build the models. If I decide to make them, I shall post my build diary here. Hi Stevegbr and Darbyvet! Thank you for comments and information about Thunderbird 2 modeler in UK and his build diary. I'm very surprised at his power. I hope UK modelers can buy the kit more easily someday. I think this kit is very cool one. However I think so, the reason why I can not still make my mind to build the kit is that DeGOSTINI's instruction manual often makes mistakes in Japan. Sometimes such mistakes are severe ones. DeAGOSTINI Japan suggest us to use instant glue (cyanoAcrylate). I think TAMIYA cement is most suitable. Because instant glue causes BLUSHING PHENOMENON, such type glue should not be used near clear parts. In the instruction manual of volume 3, instant glue is used near the canopy of Thunderbird 4. I have been building Japanese models for a while me and build based on photos and not written instruction so I don't know what it actually says. However based on the photo you use the glue on the interior parts but you don't use your on the cockpit. It actually looks like it's designed so you can remove the cockpit to see the interior. That's just my interpretation and how I would build mine. Though I don't have the actual parts to try it and see how that works.

Hi Metal Mech! Thank you for your question on my last post. Instant glue has a risk of BLUSHING PHENOMENON on not only directly glued parts but also unglued parts near the glued parts. I heard that this phenomenon is caused by the gas of the instant glue. (see the attached picture 1) Unfortunately I have ever lost some clear parts of other plastic models by this phenomenon. To avoid this phenomenon, I usually use TAMIYA cement for plastic parts. Instant glue is used when I glue metal - plastic or metal-metal situation. When I have to glue clear parts and metal parts, I use clear bond. If I misunderstand what you said, please forgive me. That's just my interpretation and how I would build mine. I think Thunderbird 4 s' cockpit can not be removed after build. Please refer to 6th picture on page 3 of volume 3 magazine. If this section is glued, the canopy part is considered to be unremovable. If you have a magazine 2, you can see "Brains one point advice" in page 1. He says "In case of loose of parts-insertion, use the glue that is an annex of this volume. The location to be glued is indicated by the icon. Since small mount of this glue has enough power, do not use too much. Give attention to it." You can see this icon in the 6th picture. I do not recommend to use instant glue here. The location is so near that there is a risk of BLUSHING PHENOMENON. If you have any more questions, I will answer them as possible as I can. I tried to build the Thunderbird 4 to confirm my last post. As I presented in no.4 and 5 photos, TAMIYA cement can glue the plastic parts of this kit. When I assembled the parts, I paid attention to Brains one point advice in volume 1. Summarized his advice is " Printed letters and marks are easy to be damaged. Don't scratch them. Treat them carefully." Finally, I didn't glue completely to restore them original setting except for the glued pilot. I found some spaces in this kit. I may be able to install LED. One of my friend also builds this kit. He is a real professional engineer. He remodeled elevator car included in volume 1 and 2. He shared You Tube movie. Thanks for detailed information. In your first photo I didn't see the icon for using glue on the canopy. I see that it's there in a later step. I am thinking I may convert mine with magnets so that I can open the canopy whenever I want to show off the interior detail.

Hi Metal Mech! Thank you for your reply and comment. Application of magnets without glue is very nice idea, I think. Sometimes even us who can read Japanese can not understand the building process indicated by DeAGOSTINI Japan. If I can not understand nor believe building process indicated, I accumulate (without building) following several volumes and look back to certify the process. （It is impossible here to correct misspell "accumulate"  -> a,c,c,u,m,u,l,a,t,e） I was taught it from my experience of building DeAGOSTINI Japan's Akagi and Yamato.
