I've had it stored in the basement for a while now. Grabbed the complete thing for 400 Euro off ebay. While the previous owner split up issues and parts, he also was totally OCD and has wrapped and marked each phases parts individually, so they stayed in awesome shape from when he bought it 10 years ago. I'm quite happy with the state of the kit.

Issue 6 Work begins on the bow. One of the bottom plates developed a bit of warp, but after a night in screw compressor clamps this was remedied. It's high time I build up the stern so I can screw/nail the whole thing down. I'm also rolling back on my decision of using printer label backing paper. It's what caused the warp in the first place.

Hi greyhawk As you have the full kit I personally would have just built the former's up in one go and had her screwed down onto the false keel yup it jumps some issue's but no warping of parts and ready for the planking. Just my way of doing it of course. Regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

I basically shouldn't have experimented with the label backing paper. It's what lead to the problem. Buuuuut, it's all ok now. With phase 7 the construction of the hull structure of the bow is completed. Extending the stern is next up and then I'll have to have a think about how best to secure the ship. I've got some interesting (to me at least) ideas about that.

Phase 8 The keel is extended to the stern. I like that they delivered both parts of the keel extension at the same time, this is so much better than what they did with the Hood. The ship has now largely reached it's final size of 1,25 meters.

There's a lot of play between connecting parts, so one really has to watch out everything stays in line. It'll be interesting to see how well this went when the decks go up. I went over the whole ship with my smart phone and a spirit level app and so far the maximum deviation from "perfectly level" is 0.5 degrees, which should be alright I guess. Or rather hope. Phase 9 Pretty straightforward. The last ribs in the stern are installed and some reinforcements put in. Almost done with the skeleton now. If you're wondering why I installed the support for the rudder control, I've made a major redecision. While I'm not building up the Bismarck into an RC version right now, I WILL be building it RC ready, that is capable to be fitted with RC equipment at a later date. One never knows what the future holds.

All very nice indeed. Its at the stage of fitting the lift out sections that hold the deck boards any issues start to show up but looks like you have done a good job bolting yours down to stop any parts drift. Hope the rest of the build goes well. Happy Modelling

Can't display her at work. Not many places around here that would want to display a WW2 warship (it's always got a bit of a bad aftertaste in Germany), but I DID recently get a request to build the Black Pearl for public display in my usual watering hole, so this might be the next build after a slot opens up in my shipyard. birdaj2 wrote: Its at the stage of fitting the lift out sections that hold the deck boards any issues start to show up but looks like you have done a good job bolting yours down to stop any parts drift.
Funny enough she's not bolted down at all yet. I planned to do this after finishing the skeleton next phase and the straking, but with how level and straight she turned out I may go full on risk here and not bolt her down at all. Which will either turn into a display of utter stupidity and a total loss or it will confirm a suspicion I've been harboring for a while now: We're all way to concerned about what-ifs. I have some time to decide on that. I plan to take a pause from the Bismarck after phase 10 and continue with Victorys decks for a while anyway.

With phase 10 the skeleton of the hull is complete. I'm taking a bit of a break here for now and will fit the Victory with its decks because it keeps staring at me accusingly.
