Making nice progress GH and beginning to look like an aircraft now with that large metal plate giving a good idea of where things will go and the size of it?
It's rather BIG isn't it!!?

Yeah, it'll be about 60cm long. Issue 7 - Installing the Radar AN/APG-71 Another air intake, the radar and its holding bracket. Here's where the difference between European and Japanese versions of this kit comes to light. While the Japanese get a nice cardboard box every week, we only get our stuff dumped in a plastic bag. Which leads to situations like this week where one of the 0,5 mm long and 0,less mm thick pins on the holding bracket clean broke at delivery. I cut it off and glued it on again, but this is really avoidable, Hachette, just dump the stuff into a little cardboard thingy, this isn't that hard. Anyways, the radar is installed and the purists are going "what in heavens name is that thing" now. Yeah, I don't know whats up with that colouring on the radar either. I'm relatively confident that Hachette will provide advice on how to correct this colour scheme in the future (as they did in issues before), so I'm not going to touch it up just now yet. We also fit the air intakes. They're screwed in and that's that. Next week, the first landing gear door, sweet.

That is a big model indeed and will look brilliant when finished. Not sure if there are many other aircraft kits of this detail in this scale. Again snother one i would love but would struggle to find thecspace to display it. Hope the build continues to go well. Happy Modelling

Issue 8 - Installing the port side landing gear doors We receive the elements for the ports side landing gear doors and the frame they are to be attached to as wall as metal rods and screws. Both doors are fastened to the frame with the metal rods. This is a very tight fit and at least for the front door required some tricky maneuvering and accident prone use of needle nose pliers, thin pieces of metal and a hammer. Luckily both me and the parts lived through that uninjured. Pictured at a moment the front door rod was not yet fully inserted. It is now. Attaching the door frame to the central frame of the kit again was rather tight and again required the use of padded pliers to temporarily slightly bend parts until everything clicks into place and can be screwed together. Pictured: some very minute misalignment in the angles of the doors. This has been corrected now.

That is looking very smart. I do like the idea of having the strong metal skeleton onto which the parts fit. Happy Modelling

To me the answer is clearly: both. No, but for reals, the Falcon is coming out in Australia now, the F14 maybe in 2018 (they'll go for the UK first in 2017 i would guess)

Issue 9 - Installing the first "engine" Fake engine of course. We receive a motor, bracket for the motor and a turbine fan. All parts are simply plugged into each other and then stuck onto the central frame. Looking pretty fly.
