Hi Guy's,
Well that was a nice response from you all, and very much appreciated, progress to date I have fitted the hinges to the elevators and started to metal plate the fuselage.

@ Tom thank you for you comments.

@ Alec yes I am very pleased with the result and thank you for looking, I hope you have fun building your Spit it is a great build.

@ Alan again you grace me with comments much appreciated the next update will be this weekend.

@ Derek thank you for having a look, following your DC3 it looks a hard build to me, more fiddly but in your hands we all have something to look forward to.

@ Mark thanks for looking, you say about the riveting you need a lot of down force to keep on line, but it is like all things the more you do !!

@ Greyhawk thank you for your time to look at my build and your comments.

@ Walter Thanks for having a look and all the best with your stunning work.

Regards

Trev.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for looking, Plating has turned out better than I thought, I think it's a bit of a brain feeling that you are worried it will not turn out ok, I must admit that I have had small problems, one of the points to remember is keep the down force on the ruler with your hands even and roll on. It is so easy to move your thoughts to the wheel and slip with the ruler. I have started on the fuselage, and so far it is all straight lines.

Regards

Trev.

UPDATE:SPITFIRE.
130316.

NOSE AND FUSELAGE PLATES.

Today I have rivet marked and fitted 6 metal plates to the Nose and along the Fuselage. Two plates had to be rounded to fit correctly plate 19 which has to be levelled off within the cockpit area. The second plate 14 has to be shaped to match the fuselage and then checked with the wing to see that it is in line, all the rest were straight forward.

This shows the first three plates Nose plate this is the starting point make sure you have set it straight and run a pencil line all the way to the end of the fuselage as a guide.

This shows the cockpit plates, first part I levelled at the wood edge, and the next part I folded forward over the side of the cockpit edge. Tip mark the back and scribe then fold.

Take your time with this part just fold forward and over, try and pre-bend and then fit in this picture I have fitted more pins to my build help hold it down.

This shows P14 shaped to match the fuselage when fitted check to make sure it lines up with the wing.

Thank for your time.

Regards

Trev.

Very skilful and neat work there again Trev.

Certainly not a model that can be rushed from what i am seeing and i would say in terms of build time money well spent.
Happy Modelling

Hello Trev,

I've been a bit busy and seem to have missed a couple of your updates, but very pleased to see the progress you have made with this!! Drool Cool ThumpUp

The skinning on that tailplane is exceptionally neat and tidy, a real credit to your skills and you should be very proud, equally your work on the fuselage? I can see this is going to be stunning model when completed!?

Very well done Trev, keep it coming!! Cool Cool ThumpUp

Hello Kev,

Thank you for your comments regarding the tail plane, I started the port side this morning, starting from the nose and working back (now to get it to match) so that will be todays work.

Trev.

Nice work Trev.
Love the Spitfire. Did think of getting this one but it's rather large so had nowhere to display her.
Keep up your excellent work pal look forward to more pics.

UPDATE:SPITFIRE.
040416.

FITTING METAL PLATES TO PORT SIDE.

First picture shows the large plate No 2 fitted to correspond with Starboard side marked and riveted.

Next check that plates 12/13 fit the same as the Starboard side these are the two plates that follow along from No 2 under the Door plate.

This shows plate 6/7 in position, mark the back with a pen or scriber remove the plate and cut of excess.
Also on this picture you can see the I have fitted plate No 17 which forms part of the door way.

This shows metal plate to be mark were the bottom of the door frame meets the metal mark with a pen. (Remove scribe snap off then sand).

Needs a tidy up but all ok.

More soon

Regards

Trev.
