Just had a little windfall which means that I've got £175 cash to blow on something frivolous. I don't want another kit, so I was thinking maybe it would be good to invest it in modelling tools or something similar. I'd like to buy a single item that I would never normally be able to afford, instead of buying lots of bits, although I'm open to persuasion. Any ideas??? Tom. wood working laithe that karl brought, and the power module for it. then if you have any left over, some square timbers to practise on, and the chisel thingies for it.

I agree with secretreeve on this one. A lathe is the one thing that I would add to my kit but cannot justify the expense. Will have to wait for my lotto to come up. Go on, splash out and enjoy. CMB

I would also suggest a wood working lathe, but Proxxon would be my choice about £150. Lovely little self contained unit which is easily stored under the bench, dial adjustable from 1000-5000 rpm. :0)

If you can find another £15.00 above your £175, then include the Proxxon chisels with your order. I got mine from Proxxon LatheCheers Mike T

To those guys who made suggestions on what to buy - thank you! To those who were begging - come on guys - have some dignity - it's not like sending begging letters to a lottery winner LOL Might look at that Proxxon DB250 at £130 from www.aird-tools.co.uk. Trouble is, I'm not sure how much I'd ever use it. I can understand it being pretty damned useful if you were a scratch-builder though. I'm also considering a decent airbrush and compressor. Dammit, I spotted these on "pre-order" today, so being a big combatsim fan, I ordered them. Had to chip in a bit extra, but these are the KINGS of their field. So there'll be no lathes in my workshop for a while :-( Quentin Tarantino - Hallowed Be Thy Name!
