The Dark Knight Tumbler in 1:25 continues Moebius tradition of cashing in on sci-fi movie fans by building somewhat lacklustre models of iconic vessels and vehicles.
The surprisingly detailed instructions unfortunately were written by someone quite obviously unfamiliar with building a painted model other than a snap kit and if followed step by step will lead to crooked joints, gaps, mismatched parts, broken things and all kinds of other battle scars.
Which is why I'm going to ignore the instructions for the most part and put this thing together as makes most sense (to me).
I'll be using this model to test and practice a variety of techniques, densities of colors, interactions between manufacturers etc. Expect a lot of things to not go as planned and others to go great. Both will add to the overarching goal of the project, which is to diplay the Tumbler as a vehicle in use/battle instead of the pristine model most make of the Tumbler.
All work on the model radiates out from a central interior box containing the seats, steering, weapon systems etc. eventually.
Here's a work in progress shot of the box featuring padded side walls, LCD screens and the drivers seat (which lacks seatbelts, the co-driver seat does feature them; I guess Batman does need to leave in a hurry often)
The side cushions have been washed in "dirty water" and these little flakes of pigment that gather in the bottom of your paint waste water. The floor received a similiar treatment, only more so with some pretty nasty stuff collecting in the corners.
At one point Batman accidentally dropped one of these Big Gulp soda cups and a collection of gunk has been growing ever since in the right fore corner.
The climate control filter should really be changed, it's full of Clayface clay and probably not even doing it's job anymore.
Poison Ivy was driven with the car at some point and apparently she seems to have an issue with hair loss (I lost some strands of the brush and they arranged themselves perfectly). Alfred really needs to do a better job here or maybe Bruce doesn't let him clean the car, you know how men are with their cars.
Aaaaaand now that I look at the picture on the big screen it seems the flash washed out all of these little things.
Better picture incoming in a few hours.
