Hello, just got to stage when the die cast wing tips are fitted ,edges 5 and 6, am I right in thinking that the plywood of the wing tips has to fit inside the die cast edges, my ply seems to thick ,I take it that this can be thinned down a very small amount so the tips fit in correctly, , sorry if I seem thick but when you are at the big 80 ,a little bit of advice is always helpful, just hope I am still around to finish the project, been thinking of perhaps purchasing the rest of stages all at once if this is possible ,so that I cane push on a bit quicker, Regards ron

Hi Ron,
Happy to see that you are progressing with your build, to answer your question, it must be difficult to get a good match wood to metal every time, my guess is that they are produced over sized so we can fit by sanding down, well that's what I had to do to get a good fit on all of them.

Hope this helps Ron.

Tip: Take small amounts off at a time and check and check again.

Thanks Trev, very helpful, yes smoothing down wood a little to make fit ,also the same with the leading edges, but do not take of to much or you will find that the wing plates will not fit nice and flush in the small grooves ,regards ron the old one.

Hello Ron,

I had a few problems with the edges myself, in fact at some stages I had to dig out the small groove's with a file where it had not been machined enough, this I then cleaned up with wire wool.

Good to here from you and keep in touch.

Regards

Trev.
