I have now completed the planking ready for the third row of gunports to be cut and looking along the ribs I have just noticed rib 23 port side is alot higher than any of the other ribs I have checked the position of suppotrs for the upper gun deck and they are all spot on level from bow to stern port and stbd sides on going up again to the next supports the support on rib 23 is much higher than any of the rest this of cause can be remedied but it could be a fault in the laser cutting does anyone else have this problem

hi..the deck supports need to be level as the tops will be trimmed later cheers benny

Firstly check if your frame 23 has been fully seated into the false keel, so that its bottom point is not short of the outside edge of the false keel, if not this is why your frame 23 frame is higher than frames either side of 23, though you you'll likely find that the lower and middle decks contact with frame 23 but not with the frames either side of 23 if that makes sense.
How much higher are the deck supports of 23 than the deck supports of the frames either side of 23? (go by support height and not the top of bulwark height).

hi Mr T it is seated correctly on the keel and it is only the port side that is affected

How much higher are the deck supports of 23 on the port side than the deck supports of the frames either side of 23? (go by the support height and not the top of bulwark height).

In that case remove 2mm from the deck supports of frame 23, though wait until the upper deck is delivered where you can check again before material is removed.

Great Tomick!  Upper decks in issues 45 & 46. Only a little time to wait, FEBUARY 2011 THEN!  As I'm framing the gun ports as I go before planking for each deck, I will call a stop to planking above the middle deck gun ports. Also it will be easier to fit the decks before planking as I can then sand the deck to fit the ribs instead of planking first then trying to get the deck to fit into the space. The other decks needed sanding so the chances are that, so will the rest of the decks, you need to get the decks to fit the centre line of the ship as well as the hull. If the section of hull is planked then it only makes the job harder for me , I've had to change something's due to my poor sight this is just another thing to do later in my build. It won't be long before you start to plank the bottom of the hull tomick, so I'll do that as I wait for the decks. Thank you for the info!  Darron

Just be mindful that you need a 6mm keel gap for the real keel
