As you all know I have been off for a while with other projects, the main one being the remodeling of my house, I also play bass guitar in a rock covers band, which this time of year gets busy with bike festivals, as well as a full time job as a bike mechanic. But last year a good friend found a 1981 Honda CB900F sat in a back garden in a very poorly way, and being suckers for a challenge we bought it home and completely stripped it to its last nut and bolt for a full restoration. It is now time to start the pain staking job of putting it back together!!
It is like a partwork as we spend most of our time waiting for new parts to be delivered, so I thought you would like to see how a pair of bike enthusiasts spend their time and lots of their hard earned cash on a 1:1 scale partwork!!LOL BigGrin
Here are a few pics of it before we started.BigGrin BigGrin

And stripped!

Next will be the where we are now with the build pics. BigGrin BigGrin

Heck that takes me back, I had the faired version, a red 900F2 bol d'orBigGrin

Only trouble with the 750 and 900, a badly adjusted cam chain often destroyed the engine Laugh

Never mind the bike, what type of rock do your band cover?

Hello Carl. They took an age to free off so I could remove the cylinders. A rebore and new pistons were certainly the order of the day!BigGrin

Here is the frame, frame parts and swing arm all powder coated.

Wheels painted and new boots.

And the tank and panels painted in the original colour of black, and they are original Honda decals not copies.

The next job was to strip and clean the gearbox and replace any worn bearings and paint the casings, luckily the only bearings that were needed replacing were on the primary shaft.
