I have been making models for many years and the hobby is often perceived as a male occupation. I happen to know however from the detail packs I have sent out that there are a number of female builders of the victory and so...

I would like to challenge all the girls to put up a build diary so we can see how you are doing. my guess is you may have some lovely builds out their that we would all like to shareBigGrin

go on double dare you!!LOL LOL Cool

I read a book when I was a kid about building model clippers...the book was first published in 1927 and the modeller who crafted all the wood and metal parts by hand and constructed some fantastic clipper ships was a young woman in her mid twenties..it was not long after that that I began building plastic models, the first one of which was a Viking long ship...

It wasn't "How to make Clipper ship models" by E W Hobbs by any chance?I picked up a copy on ebay for £4.99 inc pp...have seen it on online book shops for £400-£500 since then...very interesting book, may even attempt some of his builds myself.

If the ladies building this model are of typical female ilk - they are probably all still on issue 5 or 6 because everything has to be perfect and in place, and they will make alot of builders including the really experienced guys look like amateurs. So they probably dont want to embarrass Jack and the other guys Flapper Flapper
Current build : The Victory
Pending builds : none - yet
Built loads of bikes trucks planes and boats - all plastic kits.
on wish list - a 1:24 spitfire, in wood, plastic, just as long as I can build it :)
