Thanks for everyone for looking in. Trev, Thanks for your comment. Hopefully it will only be Saturdays for a few weeks so I'll have time in the evenings and on sundays to keep you all updated . At the moment Time for another quite update. Parts supplied in issue 10, Bulkhead 10, Two sheets of balsa used to cover the fuselage and two aileron joints. To start this stage bulkhead 10 is sanded and test fitted. when I was happy I had a good fit the bulkhead is glued into place onto the front of bulkhead 1. It is important that all the holes in the bulkheads line up as these are used to attach the engine and run fuel lines and cables. Because this is a very high stress area in the fuselage I used a high strength 5 minute epoxy. When the epoxy was drying I took the 10mm by 10mm balsa stringer supplied in issue 9 and cut two 20mm lengths and two 60mm lengths. I also cut the two balsa sheets supplied in this issue from 100mm to 70mm wide. When the epoxy has dried on the bulkhead its time to cut the ribs out on bulkheads 4 and 5. For this I used a razor saw and then sanded the edges. Next its time to glue the servo base supplied in issue 3 between bulkheads 4 and 5. The two 20mm lengths on stringer I cut before are now glued to the servo base followed by the two 60mm lengths. Now the front two sections of fuselage are sanded and the stringers around the cockpit are smoothed back to the shape of the bulkheads as shown in the before and after pictures below. The final step in this issue is to mark a line 8mm from the top of the fuselage side and then to glue the two balsa sheet to the front section on the fuselage. one on ever side. That's it for this update and I'll keep you all updated when I can Regards Shaun Building-RC spitfire Build- titanic,Skyrider drone, solar system, T72 tank

Hi and thank you to everyone who has looked in on my build. I have been busy at work and not had much time to look in the forum or make much progress on my build the couple of weeks I have however made some progress and here is another update for you all Issue 11 Parts supplied in this issue, two 100mm by 300mm balsa sheets and bulkhead 3 The first stage in this issue is to cut away the rib from bulkhead six with a razor saw as it is no longer required. The edges are then smoothed with fine sandpaper. Next the two balsa sheets glued to the fuselage in the previous issue are trimmed around the curved section where the wings fit using a craft knife with a number 10 blade. After this the two sheets are sanded level with the flat base plate using a hard sanding block. Next two 30mm squares of balsa are cut from the left over sheets from issue 10. The corners are then cut of so it fits tightly in the gap in the fuselage behind the balsa sheets already glued to the fuselage. Again a line is marked 8mm from the top of the two fuselage sides and the balsa sheets glued in place on both sides. The overhang is cut away the same as before and then the balsa sheets sanded smooth with the fuselage with a sanding block. And the fronts sanded back to the engine bulkhead. The final step is to glue bulkhead 3 and clamp into place. That's it for this update and hope you are all enjoying my build, as I enjoy seeing all your build progess Regards Shaun Building-RC spitfire Build- titanic,Skyrider drone, solar system, T72 tank

Nice work on the build, great pictures. Tough with the wrist but hopefully you've got a light weight cast and from experience, that makes life difficult but not impossible, but can be very tiring when trying to work accurately. Take it gently. Regards, Alec Built: Bluenose, Arab Dhow, HMS Bounty, Hummer H1, D51, Spitfire,E type Jaguar. In Progress: HMS Victory, , Yamaha YZR-M1

Hi guys thank you for your kind words. My wrist is healing fine and I should get the cast off on Thursday. Here is another update from before I broke my wrist, about 9 and a half weeks ago how. Issue 12, Parts supplied with this issue, bulkheads 11 and 12, wing support, four spider nuts, two sheets of balsa 100x300mm and the fuel tank. Firstly the wing support in glued to bulkhead 7, Next one of the balsa sheets is cut in half and then soaked in warm water before curving around a bottle filled with water to stop the bottle crushing. Then the two curved pieces of balsa are glued to the fuselage. That's all for this issue and I will post update 13 in the next few days. Issue 13 was also completed about 8 weeks ago the day before I fell out a tractor cab and breaking my wrist. Regards Shaun Building-RC spitfire Build- titanic,Skyrider drone, solar system, T72 tank

Hi guys, thank you all for looking in and your kind words. Progress on the spitfire has been slow the last few months with work and recovering from my broken wrist. I have now completed issue 13 and have an update for you all. With issue 13 parts supplied are Balsa baton 20x32x310mm, balsa sheet 2x100x300mm, cutting template (not in photo) and fuel tank parts. The first step with this issue is to cut 4 30x30mm squares from the leftover balsa sheet from issue 12 These are glued to the inside of the balsa sheet already fitted to the fuselage using superglue. Next a 20mm long piece of leftover 5x5mm stringer is glued and clamped to the bottom of the stringer against the first bulkhead. When the glue has set the clamps and removed and the area sanded. Next two sheets of balsa 2x100x300mm are cut two 225mm in length and then curved to the shape of the fuselage using the same method as in issue 12. These are then glued and clamped to the fuselage using superglue. The template is cut to size and glued to the cockpit area and then using a sharp knife the area of balsa is cut and removed. The final step is to use a sanding block and sand the front balsa sheets flat to the front bulkhead. That's it for this issue and how the summers over I hope to be able to push on with this build and keep you all up to date with my progress.
