Yea, I had seen that. I have the same connectors and plan on using the supplied board in conjunction with my board. Time to do some more playing.

I got that effect from doing a darker brown wash over the light paint before it had completely dried. I wasn't expecting it to crack like it did, but it worked well. Gives it a cool look.

Tamiya acrylics.

Haven't done much in the way of updates lately. Some issues were backordered and took longer to arrive than normal. I did get my photo etch gun ports in and have started working on those. Updates of those will come later.

One thing I have done is checked for myself to see how much of the hold will actually be seen when the model is assembled. I was very pleasantly surprised. Pretty much all the details I've worked hard on can be seen. So my only issue now at this point is displaying. Since I plan to have it under glass. I'd rather not have it open all the time, but to remove the hull plating may prove difficult while under glass. Looking in to doing some type of glass door to reach in and remove the hull.

So anyway, here are some photos of my "unpainted" upper hull on top of the hold, as if the model were assembled. Quite easy to look inside with the panels off and see the interior.

Look awesome Colson! Got a question... I love what you did with the cockpit corridor hallway wall lights... what kind of clearance is there between the outside of the wall tube and the upper hull? Is there enough room between the two for wiring of those lights are did you have to do something creative?

That's what I was thinking. I was worried that the hull would be too close to the corridor that there wouldn't be much room there. That is a pretty good solution!

So I'm up to pack 15, which is through issue 64. So not a lot to update.

However, I did purchase my first 3D printed item. I went ahead and got the Nav chair for the hold. Here it is painted.






I then decided to use one of the numerous photo etch headsets that came with the gunner port set and put in on the chair.



















After painting the headset, which is a gray color with black mic, I added to the chair and attached a wire running from the headset to the chair.















And then put in place in the hold.
















I do have the photo etch gunner port which I will be working on next. So I'll post photos once I've completed that.

FINALLY got around to doing the photo etched gunner port that I've been sitting on for at least a month. Been busy with life. You know how it goes. So here's some photos or my most recent work.



First off, started by painting the gunner seats.
































Then to work on the photo etch.
















First off, let me say I actually like the shade of gray from the primer. So I'm just gonna use that as the color of the port, since it's a light gray anyway. But I am painting a hair lighter shade of gray on the rear wall, which is reflected in the real set.












So now that that's done, I used reference photos from the movie for color placement of the lights. I then flipped the image horizontally to reflect the back side, which is what will be painted on the etching. I then scanned the back side of the etching and marked the colors to get it accurate. Here's a photo of what I mean.








Then began the painting process for the lights.








The effect I want.












And then detail painting of the side wall pieces. But I'm just gonna show finished product shots, because I think by now we all know how to paint.

















Then decal time.












Then folding the etch into the gunner port form.













There were some light leaks along the seams, so I just did a thick coat of black paint on the seams and it got rid of it.













Then seat added and there you go.
