This is pretty awesome. Just shows what can be achieved in countries where the whole machine of the state is fine-tuned to serve the citizen instead of various political interests.

My father was visiting by brother in Norway two years ago and had a very serious allergic reaction to something he ate. Basically he became all swollen and couldn't breathe. Because my brother lives in a small village about 40 minutes from Bergen, it is difficult for the medical staff to get there quickly. But the moment he picked up the receiver and stated the problem (they started with that instead of asking for names and addresses like NHS does) the ambulance was sent on its way. They already knew the address based on the incoming call information. At the same time an air ambulance was sent and it was hovering over their house for the whole time it took the normal one to reach them by road, and then even longer while my dad was treated - just in case it might be needed. Until the paramedics got there, they kept the phone line open and we're listening to updates about my dad's condition and giving advice.
