Issue 48

Your parts:left frame, lower leg, cable and screws.

Saved parts:
You will be using parts from the previous issues, so be sure to have these to hand before beginning: Left foot and ankle assembly ,battery ,servo from last issue, CPU board and pads.

Building up the lower leg.
Take the lower leg assembly and the leg panel feed the servo cable through the lower hole on the frame and out of the top hole. Next take the knee frame and again pass the cable through the hole. Remove the cover from the servo and attach the cable from the ankle assembly to the spare socket on the servo, then making sure the cable is not kinked or caught use the four screws to secure it in place.

Fitting the knee frame and lower leg panel.
Line up the shaft of the servo with the 'D' shaped hole in the ankle assembly then gently push home. Next line up the two circular holes in the leg panel and push gently together making sure the cable is not caught. When it is in its correct position fix the them together with two M2 x 7 mm screws.

Testing the left leg.
Place the servo cable from the left leg in the 2nd slot along from the SD card making sure it is seated correctly. Connect the battery and Robi's leg should start sequencing in the same way that the right leg did.

As long as there is power the sequence of movements will continue, when you are satisfied all is working correctly detach the battery.

If the leg will not work or only partially works then this may mean there is a faulty connection and may involve striping down the leg and resetting the ID numbers but before you do anything check the battery is fully charged and the connection to the CPU board is sound.

If the problem persists then follow the trouble shooting guide included in the magazine to get Robi's leg working correctly.

Issue complete store any unused parts in a bag labeled with the stage number.

Issue 52

Your parts: Ball. Front hip panel, base and screws.

Saved parts:You will be using parts from the previous issues, so be sure to have these to hand before beginning: Battery, CPU board, left and right leg assembly's and rear hip panel.

Joining the legs and wiring the hip base.
Take the hip base and put the left and right servo cables from the legs through the two round holes at the front of the hip base. The front centre of the hip base has two square holes one above and one below the waist pivot take the left and right servo cables and pass them through the lower hole and out the larger hole above it. Next swing the hip base forward but do not allow the servo cables to fall out and pass the power cord up through the waist pivot. Now fix the front of the hip base over the two round holes the servo cables were fed through and gently push it back until it lines up with the two screw holes then fix it in place using two M2 x 6 mm screws. You may need to adjust the power cable so the hip base fits correctly.

Taping the right servo and adding the front panel.
Identify the right servo cable and add a piece of tape to it . Next take the front hip panel and push it up so the two pins on the hip frame are inserted into it. Hold it in place and turn the leg assembly upside down swinging the legs open so you can use a M2 x 6 mm screw to fix it in place.

Testing the legs and hips.
Take the leg assembly and place the servo cable from the left leg in the 2nd slot along from the SD card and then the right servo cable to the 1st slot making sure both are seated correctly. Connect the battery and Robi's hips and legs should start sequencing..

As long as there is power the sequence of movements will continue, when you are satisfied all is working correctly detach the battery.

If the leg assembly will not work or only partially works then this may mean there is a faulty connection and may involve striping down the leg assembly and resetting the ID numbers but before you do anything check the battery is fully charged and the connection to the CPU board is sound.

If the problem persists then follow the trouble shooting guide included in the magazine to get Robi's leg working correctly.

Issue complete store any unused parts in a bag labeled with the stage number.
