I have picked up a job on behalf of a friend who has asked me to 'just knock this up' for him Blink on a short (for me) lead time and with a slightly different presentation to the box art.

This is my first Model Shipways kit. Quality is above average with solid wood used throughout no ply. The instructions are very detailed walk through written by the prototype builder with photos. two actual size plans are included but they are not at all good quality.

This build will have little paint so I will have to take my time to get it perfect, no filler Crying

First job is to remove the discolouring and laser burn form the false keel, I managed to snap the top of the bow off Angry once done the ribs were also cleaned up an test fitted, some were a little tight so needed the slot fettling a bit.

with the ribs dry fitted I drew a pencil line to mark the bottom of the ribs; This is my rabbet line. The stern was then sanded down to allow for the planking and a bevel sanded in the full length of the false keel.

The stem and Keel where then fitted which is the point I made my repair to the false keel. Once this was all dried the ribs were glued into place.

Sorry for the lack of pictures, Photobucket now wants $49 a month off me as I have used my storage, even with deleting some images it won't let me upload. I have tried attaching files but the forum comes up with a series err message all the time.

If anybody has some suggestions to an alternative site to photo bucket I would be very grateful.

in the mean time here is a link to the above kit

Jase

Looks very similar to the Panart version http://www.cornwallmodel...s_victory_longboat.html

Odd that you can't upload direct to the forum, might have something to do with using Mac, though Karl1113 was a prolific Mac user and never had a problem posting his build pics on the forum.

Maybe you should have a word with Photobucket as something don't sound right. They currently give 2GB foc, and better still, if you had an old account you get the 1GB added, in effect you get 3GB which equates to millions of photos Blink

From their web site terms & conditions:

2 GB of free storage or space available for your original photo files, or videos under 10min.
If you had a free account on the previous version of Photobucket, you will get an additional 2 GB on top of what you've already stored. So, if you had 1 GB worth of compressed images on the Original Photobucket, on the new Photobucket you will have 2+1 = 3 GB of total storage available on the new photobucket.
If you need more, upgrade to a PLUS account and have unmetered bandwidth in addition to extra storage and no ads!

Hi Jase.
there is a simple way to publish your images in Windows, but as you have a Mac, I wouldn't know how to go about it. Hope you find a way because I'd love to see the images of your workflow. It looks like a lovely little build judging from the photos on the CMB page.
Happy building

Hi Jase,
If you don't want to use the forum upload functionality I can strongly recommend http://imgur.com - very fast, free, and so far seems to be unlimited, plus offers some limited online editing functionality (cropping, colour adjustments, adding arrows and so on). I use it for all my build logs. The feature I love is that you can create named albums when mass-uploading pictures and then you get a list of uploaded images with ability to copy the BBCode links with one click.
Any images I post on my personal builds are free to be used and shared under Creative Commons Attribution license, which means you can do what you want with them, on the condition you mention I'm the author.

Happy building :-)

I have built a few Model Shipways kits. The quality is generally pretty good.I would do an inventory of parts-I have had a few with missing parts and they will supply free replacements , but it takes a while to get them
