 Rear suspension was completed and the frame is ready for installation of the engine. Had a mishap when I dropped the whole assembly and about half the parts sprang off because I had used instant glue for them. Parts: 72

It really will be. I realize for the first time how much larger than cars trucks are really.  Installed the motor...  ... and made more tanks for the tank god. That's Tamiya Chrome Silver on the one in the middle. Doesn't look anything like chrome, but I still do love it. I'll try polishing it when it's a bit more dry and see if this does anything to make it look more Chrome-y, otherwise I'll have to try the Uschi van der Rosten pigments for actual chrome. 86 parts.

Turns out those tanks weren't tanks at all.  They were the exhaust system. Oh well. More tanks will be coming.  Also put together the moving part of the steering (unpainted yet). Looks nice and sturdy, I've seen worse. What I don't understand is why Revell keeps insisting on the "now burn it with fire" method to melt moving parts into place. Why not deliver a slightly larger endcap for parts like these? 101 parts, yay.

Great job Greyhawk! You must have done a good repair job as you can't see that it's been dropped. When you say you used instant glue was this super glue?

Yeah, super glue doesn't like to be knocked about. The idea was to make my life easier with some very iffy connections. Didn't work out as intended, but it's ok now. At least none of the actual parts broke. And any paint chipping off I just kept this way. It's natural weathering.

Installed the steering and the rest of the front suspension  and made some more tanks  Because history has taught us, you can never have too many tanks really. Also some bulkhead kinda thing. I have no idea what it is, some kind of firewall maybe? But there's also what looks like shock absorbers? It's going to be installed behind the engine. 118 parts.

Installed the tanks to please the tank gods  The front mudguards give you the first glimpse of the eventual colour of the outer body. This is RBR Blue, a colour Revell has brought to market specifically for this kit and so far this kit only. Only available in a rattle can too. This is a blue with a very slight pearl effect and a bit of a colour stream effect so it appears to show different saturations of blue depending on the angle it reflects light. The effect seems to be less pronounced in the LED light I submitted this to for taking the photo. When more of the body is done, I'll be sure to take some photos in the sun.  Mud flaps came out looking very nice in my opinion  Also made the rear mud guards. The brake lights look a bit iffy because the white glue I used for them is still drying. Fun fact: In Germany we call mudguards "bad wings". No really. No one even bats an eye at this. EDIT: well not actually BAD wings, but the forum doesn't allow me to use the word we use. It's the stuff that comes out of the end of the horse that is not a mouth. 133 parts.

Stopped the build. The kit is suffering from the same problem every Italeri kit I've tried so far is suffering from. At some point in the build things stop fitting entirely. With this one the frame and anything connected to the frame is correct, but all the body panels are too big for where they should be sitting. To make them fit in any kind of way I'd have to tear the whole thing apart again and start cutting up parts that up to now were perfectly fine. The result would be mediocre at best and an utter mess at worst. Considering this is the second Italeri truck I've tried and the first one showed the exact same issues (but with the frame), I'm redefining this one as an airbrush practice experience and have blacklisted any Italeri kits for the foreseeable future. Expect the Revell Peterbilt 359 in this place instead. Should be arriving at the end of the month and it doesn't come out of a Italeri mold, yay.
