Absolutly disgraceful. I fully accepted that some "half wit" would come up with something like this but when i read tonight it was instigated by some sort of BBC radio Jersey fool it just said it all Seems this country is degenerating beyond hope and i really hope the NERC based here in Swindon get a grip and come up with sonething more appropriate. What gets me more with this is the fact it aint funny! That would have been acceptable and just goes to show what some complete idiots (in my opion) the BBC employ. Happy Modelling

I saw that too.its a shame that David Attenborough name was low on the list.At least they are not calling Spongebob or something.
I met David Attenborough when I was at college.Very nice guy and very knowledgeable.
if I was NERC I would fudge the results to make the name a bit more scientific and respectful.

I must admit it did bring a smile to my lips when I saw this on the news! Considering where she will be operating though I'd prefer something like 'RRS Blackbuck Vulcan' or even 'Thatcher Victorius' Robin. First wooden ship: The Grimsby 12 Gun 'Frigate' by Constructo Second: Bounty DelPrado Part Works Third: HMS Victory DelPrado Part Works 1/100 scale Diorama of the Battle of the Brandywine from the American Revolutionary War Diorama of the Battle of New Falkland (unfinished sci-fi), Great War Centenary Diorama of the Messines Ridge Assault Index for the Victory diary is on page 1

You must admit, it is certainly out of the norm..... As in everything in life, some will love it and some will hate it whilst the rest sit on the fence with no opinion at all..... I like the idea of it being different but would love to see her named Attenborough... Regards Alan

Well this just about sums up this country, Mr and Mrs thicky starts voting on this stupid name Every thing seems to be just for a laugh,ie Top Gear racing up and down past the tomb of the Unknown soldier but it's ok it's just for a laugh Two 11 year olds terrorising the local area for 3 years but it's ok it's just for a laugh Trolls aloud to put what they want it's just for a laugh I am sick and tired of people thinking it's just for a laugh and I hope that they chuck this name out as its making a mockery of a very important ship . Ok rant over Rgd Martyn Building ? Completed. Soliei Royal . Sovereign of the Seas . Virginia . Scotland . San Felipe . Corel vasa , Santisima Trinadad X section , Vasa Next Build ? Robin. HI Robin and All Yes the cap talley`s are worn round junior ratings caps with the H.M.S and the name of the ship on them. they are then tied with a bow on the left hand side of the cap. Ian Current builds.Hachettes build the bismark,HMS Victory, HMS Hood. Finished Builds Corel HMS Victory cross section.

Looks like they are not using Boaty McBoatface for the vessel, but for the submarine on board http://www.cnn.com/2016/...-attenborough/index.html

And the ship itself will be named "Sir David Attenborough" which is more than fitting name and the one I was hoping for. I'm glad the common sense prevailed. EDIT: This is not the end of this story!!!Any images I post on my personal builds are free to be used and shared under Creative Commons Attribution license, which means you can do what you want with them, on the condition you mention I'm the author.
Happy building :-) http://www.model-space.com/gb/
