Hello there
I need advise on several areas but not sure where to start, but will try
1)about part #29 the tips stick out when you place the decks 7a in place
is that normally do they get sanded even with the hull shape
2) how far back do I nail the decks in place do I nail all the way to the stern
because it's very tight to get the nailer in place to get nails in
3) having trouble keeping the nails in the nailer when I'm trying to nail in
tight places such as near the stern
any help or suggestions would be most grateful and appreciated
Thank you
Ronald

I recently installed the deck and have tips sticking out too. I would expect them to be sanded back.

The best way to put in the nails in the stern is to use a small hammer. There's really not enough room to successfully use the nailer. Another way that proved fruitful is to put the nails between the arms of a rifled flat head plier and just stick it in. Beware: This might require more force than you're willing to exert on the model. It worked fine for me, but I'm not giving any guarantees regarding survival of your model.

Hi Ronald, in answer to your questions:

1. Some of the ribs will stick out beyond the deck, this is normal and won't be seen once the planking is in place. As long as during the fairing process you achieve a smooth continuous flow along the hull, without any dips or bumps then you should be ok. Removing to much material during fairing is also something to watch out for.

2 & 3. Pin pushers come in all different shapes and sizes, some are magnetic too so it depends what kind of pin pusher you have. For the really tight areas I tend to grip the pin in the jaws of a pair of long nosed pliers and gently press the pin in place. Where I can't pin then I'll look to glue then clamp or wedge in place until the glue dries. As for nailing the deck the yes, I nailed all the way back to the stern.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Alan

ok thanks fellows for the advise I will use long nose pliers for the tight areas
the nail pusher I have is the black handle one if I can find the magnetic ones that would help as well but not in tight corners
