Rules
All questions must be of a related nature. Whoever posts the correct answer to any question, then gets to post the next question, but ONLY after their answer has been accepted as correct by the person who posted the original question. If after 48 hours no follow-up question is posted by the person who gave the correct answer to the previous question, then the author of this topic will set another question by proxy. This is purely to keep the quiz flowing and maintain the fun and interest.
If there is any disagreement by third parties over whether an answer that has been accepted as correct by the questions' author, is in fact wrong, then the author of the original question must mediate and decide on whether they should uphold their original judgement or accept the new answer as being correct.
Please keep any posts as being Questions or Answers - no idle chit-chat or hijacking of the topic! There are no prizes on offer, it's just for fun! I will start it off by asking the first question in the next post.

Spot on Nem, thank you. I just had to ask that one, as I'm Polish myself and I enjoyed the book "Division 303" so much when I was a kid, it started my interest in the WW2 flying machines... Your turn :) Any images I post on my personal builds are free to be used and shared under Creative Commons Attribution license, which means you can do what you want with them, on the condition you mention I'm the author.

It was indeed Phil, troops said it was the most frightening sound on the battlefield 'just like a buzzsaw' as it had such a high rate of fire and was also quite accurate. Your question.

Thanks Darren.......ok easy one .....at what distance could a Sherman tank armed with 75mm gun penetrate the frontal Armour of a King tiger? COMING SOON =1/72 Italeri diorama`s Battle for the Reichstag and Stalingrad battle at the tractor factory 1/16 Trumpeter King Tiger with loads of extras ON THE GO= refurbishment of 1/25 Tamiya tiger 1 , amt Star trek kits and space 1999 models

It couldn't at any distance. The frontal plate on the King Tiger was 150mm angled at 50 degrees so 230mm of armor. The 75mm was rated at 80mm at 100yds. Not one King Tiger was ever penned from the front.

Thanks Phil, horrifying for the gunners watching all their shells bounce off only scratching the paint, may just as well have got out and thrown them for all the good they did.
Right next question, how did the Sherman Firefly get its name?

It was indeed! When fired in low light it reminded troops of a Firefly! Your question.
