The United States is enhancing its already significant presence at this year's Air Tattoo with the addition of more aircraft to the flying and static display.
The Bell-Boeing CV-22 Osprey tiltrotor will be returning to the show following its flying debut in last year's show, with a demonstration of its capabilities provided by the 352nd Special Operations Wing, based at RAF Mildenhall, Suffolk. The aircraft has the unique capability of being able to take-off vertically like a helicopter but fly at forward speeds associated with fixed-wing aircraft.
One of the Ospreys will also appear in the static display allowing visitors to get up close to these impressive aircraft.

The addition of the Ospreys comes on top of the debut of the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter, five of which are attending, two from the US Air Force and three from the Marine Corps. The US Air Force is also providing two F-22 Raptor fifth-generation fighters, one of which will feature in the flying display.
