Another one for the stash Another one for the stash And another one stacked, and another one stacked Another one for the stash Hey, I'm gonna get you, too Another one for the stash
That's one of the latest Tamiya releases in 1/24 scale and it seems to be a lovely kit.
The FXX K is Ferrari's cutting-edge racetrack sports car based upon their hybrid sensation, the LaFerrari. Despite a rumored price tag of 2.7 million dollars, the 40 or so FXX Ks sold out quickly. This track-only car, not intended for competition, has a design without restrictions for homologation and street-legality, etc. A thumping V12 engine delivers 860hp, plus 190hp from the electric motor. The FXX K inherits the LaFerrari HY-KERS hybrid system and offers 4 performance settings to be selected according to the conditions. Top of the range aerodynamics are provided by the sleek LaFerrari styling form with the mesmerizing new rear spoiler design catching the eye at even a brief glance. Even the slick tires are super hi-tech, with sensors providing feedback that helps the traction control get the most out of the car.
The model has a length of 204mm, width of 88mm, and height of 47mm, is made out of 154 parts, and features opening doors and rear cowl, detailed engine reproduction, nylon mesh for air intakes, metal plated wheels, masking stickers, metal transfers, and decals for the body and tires. Some of the parts are based on the earlier LaFerrari model if I am not mistaken.
The box contains two sprues of black plastic containing mostly framework, internal body, and suspension parts, one sprue of grey plastic containing mostly parts of engine, exhaust, brakes and the seats, one sprue of red plastic with external body parts, one clear sprue with quite a substantial number of window panes, one modest sprue of plastic covered with chrome, four rubber tyres, polycaps for the wheels, decals, nylon mesh for the intakes, metal transfers for the mirrors and other shiny parts, and a very welcome masking stickers for the windscreen and rear cowl window. Also are included some decals for the tyres. The manual is a typical Tamiya, clear and well laid-out. Photos below:
Together with the model, Tamiya released two add-on products: photo-etch details set (that also contains fabric seatbelts), and a large set of carbon fibre decals. I got both together with the model, and I just hope the decals are better than typical Tamiya offering (which I consider the biggest weakness of this otherwise top manufacturer)
I will be building it in some unspecified future, for now I'll just stack it with the rest.Any images I post on my personal builds are free to be used and shared under Creative Commons Attribution license, which means you can do what you want with them, on the condition you mention I'm the author.

The funniest thing is that I preordered the whole set back in January or something like that and completely forgotten about it. So it was a genuine surprise when I found it delivered today. Yay!
