Hi Shipmates I was wondering if there is a rule of thumb as to how long the planks have to be left soaking before the bending operation. I am just about to start this process and have left the first pack of planks in water for about 24 hours now, but they still don't show much willingness to be shaped. Any advice would be helpful Daffy09

Hi Daffy, hopefully some of our experts will give you advice on the soaking method, i myself just bought a plank bender from amati and used this, it works by notching one side of the timber creating a curve, the closer the notches the tighter the curve becomes. care has to be taken though as too much pressure can split the timber. current builds

Not sure on this. I recall peps were saying about 20 mins. Dunno what temp the water was. Steam is quite hot though! To Zaptrader. First, soz mate. I was looking for an answer to this in the index of topics, and could not find it. Could we update it pretty please with sugar on top. (hundreds and thousands are mine tho.) oh, and the flake! There have been some great mods like the barrels. Also lots of other useful tips, and cheap alternatives. Sorry to burden you. i dont know what weapons will be used in ww3 but ww4 will be sticks and stones.

Various methods are described throughout the topic's, but a 10 min soak in hot water should be suffice.
