Garth, many thanks and you're too kind however, if you could see what I can see from here, there's still a lot to be desired.
Back home again for the next 6 months and really looking forward to getting on after so many months and years of slow progress with the planking and then the tiling. As I mentioned, the current target is completing the hull to issue 60 and at least I had the videos to watch while I was away so all good.
Happy building guys.

Hi John, Looking at your build John I can appreciate the effort you have put into your build, when I look at your tiling it reminds me of the hours it took when I tiled my own and still to add. But what a great build you have and with everything now coming into place and with the cannons and ropes this will be a very worth while build and one to be proud of. Regards Trev. Just a quick update before I start on the quarterdeck. It's nice at this stage because I can switch between the deck and the wales whilst glue is drying. So, the gallery is complete after a few fun and games including relaying the top 4 planks because I cut them to short even though I was attempting to follow the instructions. First set of cannons in place. One thing I realised straight away is to clean all the holes in the blocks and the eyes, with a needle before threading the ropes. It's amazing how a little glue and other rubbish can accumulate in there if they have been laying around for a while. BTW I had noticed I put the rope the wrong way round above the steps. All fixed now. Also getting a new camera for my birthday next month so pictures should be a bit better quality for the next update. Happy building.

Thanks Ian and Derek.
Yes, the deck looks OK with that colour but I would have preferred it a little lighter. I will try to get that for the quarterdeck which I am working on now.

I have hit another problem and don’t know how it happened. It can be seen in picture A. I am ready to lay the last 2 planks onto the poop deck followed by the cap. However, as you can see, the planks are the same height as the top of the rear gallery. In other words, I am about 5mm adrift somewhere. The poop deck planks were laid onto their supports which sit on the frames, so I assume that must all be correct. Picture B shows the correct positioning according to the video instructions and which ties in with the magazine. I can only assume that I have positioned the gallery to low in that case but, it’s relative position to the gun ports seems Ok given that every build will be different. The rear gallery sits on the plate which in turn, sits on the gallery supports. Again these all seemed OK when I completed theses stages. Can anyone see where I’ve gone wrong? More importantly, what to do about it. I can see 2 options. 1. I can just lay a single plank and then the cap after cutting the angle. Or 2. I can lay the 2 planks and the cap letting it stand proud and try to finish it off in some way Are there any other possibilities people can suggest? Many thanks as ever. A. The problem - Gallery height is the same as the planking without the cap. B. Screen shot from Victory video showing the correct positioning. C. Position of gallery relative to gun ports

Am up to my eyebals in other matters right now to take a close look at this, but as you can see Alan is already looking into this for you, which I think would be unfair of me to pre-empt the work he is putting in to investigate this for you, I will of course take a look at his reply once posted.
