I cannot get COM3 to show up. I have installed the leadtek GPS USB to UART bridge. I do not see COM3 listed in device manager.
I tried to uninstall the driver, so that I could reinstall it. But it simply won't uninstall. No explanation.
Windows 10.
Any ideas or troublshooting for this?

Try running the application in Windows 7 compatibility mode and if that's not enough, then run it as administrator. It should help. I've tried those to no avail. I believe the problem is with the driver. It doesn't ever show up.

The USB cable is a device in itself. Try opening Device Manager, expanding COM ports node and see if the port shows up and disappears there when you connect and disconnect the cable (just the cable alone, without drone connected). It will tell us whether the problem is with the driver/cable, or the application. Quickest way to open device manager in Win10 is to press Win key + X then select from the handy menu that will pop up. I don't see any COM port list. I've tried looking through every device listed, and none seem to have anything to do with what I'm looking for. The computer does beep when I plug in the USB (no drone). But Windows never says that's installing the drivers... That's the only thing I hate about Windows... trying to get everyone talking to each other.

Sounds good. Thanks for your help. I'm waiting on a replacement part as well, so don't stress about it. :)

First, make sure you got and installed the driver from this link: http://download.cnet.com....html?hlndr=1&dlm=0 - don't connect the cable just yet while you're doing this. Then open your Device Manager and the ports list should look like on the first image below. After connecting the cable, a new device should show up named Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge (COM3) - see second picture below. Let me know if you can get to this stage. Well... today it showed up. Clear as can be. There was no Ports option yesterday, today I plug it in and up it pops. The flight program picked it right up.
Idk what the problem was (maybe weak usb connection), but many thanks.
I'm very glad that there is a great community for Model Space. I'd have an expensive paperweight otherwise. :D
PS As I lean on the table, I lose then regain connection. I think the USB port on my PC is going bad. Thanks again for your help.
