as a few of us are second planking to be satisfied with our build is there a maximum thickness of the final planks..this model is supposed to be single planked but i am second planking with 0.5mm planks.. so do we need to sand the first planks down to 1mm thick to allow for the 0.5 mm planks to go on top, does that half mil really matter?..thanks paul cheers benny

benny if your putting 0.5mm venner on top, then you only need to sand down 0.5 mm Alan

benny i'll try to answer that question if I may,al designed for single planking, assuming you know what your doing, they probily allowed 1/2mm for sanding,so you can sand 1mm. or .5mm, for your .5mm second layer..5mm is not going to make any difference.whoops typo there now corrected. Current builds: SotS, USS Consitution, San Felipe, D51 loco, HMS Surprise, RB7, Arab Dhow, Jotika HMS Victory Completed builds: HMS Pickel, Thermopylae, Mississipi river boat, Mary Rose, Cutty Sark, San Francisco II, HMS Victory x5, Titanic Lifeboat, Panart HMS Victory Launch, Hachette Titanic, Virginia Schooner, Endeavour Longboat. http://www.model-space.com/gb/
