The base is now glued up and leveled. It took quite a bit of filing and cajoling to get these parts to fit.I now have to drill a hole through the center support. The model is supposed to stand on its three legs.Since it will be quite heavy once done (probably about 5 pounds) the resin legs will sag over time so I am using a wood dowel through the center support to take most of the weight. The legs are attached to flat pods which act as the feet. This is another weak spot so I will leave off attaching the feet until the end of the build.

The next step is to add all the detail under the platform.

Thanks Andy.

I have now drilled a hole through the base for a wood dowel.I am test fitting the center of the machine so I can figure out where to cut a hole on the platform and make sure that I have enough room for all of the parts on the platform.Next step is to cut out a hole in the rear of the platform and add the detail nails, sand and stain.I am also starting work on the bits that fit underneath the platform.

The platform is now finished.I stained it and added the brass nails and the 2 detail pieces.Next step is to finish off the support for the platform and start working on the machinery that goes underneath the platform.

Neat stuff.

Those brass nails certainly put a good finish to the base, nice choice.

Looking forward to what comes next.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. The stand is almost finished now. There are three legs that extend to stabilize the base.In the movie these legs retract once the time machine starts up.I used brass tubing to make an axle to attach the legs.I will glue then in place so they wont be retractable because the are needed to support the model. There are three braces that need to be added to the legs. The kit supplied parts are too short for some reason so I will be scratchbuilding these parts.

More work on the time machine base. The legs are now glued in position and the plaftorm was test fitted.

There are three braces that go from the legs to the main frame. In the movie the legs retract once the machine starts going.Unfortunately the kit supplied braces are too short for some reason. So I cut off one end of the brace and drilled into the main part of the brace and installed a brass rod to make the brace longer.I then drilled a hole in some brass tubing to use as the end of the brace and cut the brass rod so that the brace is now the right length.

The next step is to start painting the base and the braces.

This kit so far is requiring a LOT of scratchbuilding.I doubt it will be even close to being finished by December at this rate.
