Just a teaser really, until I get back home in the evening and take some pictures - but I need this placeholder to actually pry my hands off this kit and share some in-progress photos. Otherwise it's too much fun to just get on with it. So... watch this space :-) A few weeks ago I posted some unboxing pictures of the new 1/24 Ferrari FXX K from Tamiya. I've been working on that model on and off for the last two weeks or so and I'm absolutely stunned by Tamiya's engineering and attention to details on this one. There's a bit of tricky masking to be done, indeed the model could benefit from splitting the parts up a bit more so it would be easier to paint. But nothing that can't be fixed with a bit of careful placing of masking tape in strategic places. I have also purchased extra carbon fibre decals set (also Tamiya's) and this adds a lot to the model - and to the build time, as up till now I spent definitely more time decaling than building and painting. But the effect is awesome and it's all fun. Update with pictures in a few hours :) Any images I post on my personal builds are free to be used and shared under Creative Commons Attribution license, which means you can do what you want with them, on the condition you mention I'm the author.

So, a few pictures of the current progress. I built engine, suspension and most of the main body frame. There was about 40 of tiny carbon fibre decals involved. If I was doing this again, I'd first place the carbon fibre decals on the sides of the airbox, then on the top - because the demarcation line between them is too visible as it is right now (although photos amplify the effect). Brake discs were moulded together with the brake calipers, so that required some careful masking to paint. Also, I destroyed metal transfer logos that are supposed to go on top of the airbox, I'll have to order replacement.            Currently I'm working on carbon-fibre decals on the dashboard and painting of the seats, this will take a few days due to number of carbon fibre fragments involved - I'm doing one at the time, allowing previous to dry fully. Bonus: seats, just painted semi-gloss black; the parts you sit on will be now carefully masked and painted matte black to simulate fabric. Then seatbelts made of sticker-based paper and photo-etch will be added (that comes from the additional P/E set)  Any images I post on my personal builds are free to be used and shared under Creative Commons Attribution license, which means you can do what you want with them, on the condition you mention I'm the author.

Very nice indeed Michal, you've made a good job of the carbon fibre decals and I think this will look stunning when it's all covered in the beautiful Ferrari red - or are you doing a different colour scheme? Nice work so far.

Kev I'm going with the Rosso Fuoco which is the rare metallic red from Ferrari. Several FXX K were seen in that colour and I think that combined with silver stripes it will look awesome. Any images I post on my personal builds are free to be used and shared under Creative Commons Attribution license, which means you can do what you want with them, on the condition you mention I'm the author.

The CF looks great. Did you clear coat them or is that the natural look?

That was the natural look but i clearcoated it since I took the photos and now it looks even better. I'll post pictures tomorrow if I find the time.
