Attached a picture of my latest and largest print, model is almost full height for the printer. Took 4.5 hours but I'm well pleased with the result.

Printed in blue PLA with a slightly higher temperature (225 degrees).

Seems there are a number of key elements to getting a 'good' print.
1. Ensure extruder to print bed gap is correct
2. Check X and Y axis alignment belts
3. Check the slide rails screws; they do slacken.

Model is not of my creation; not that good on that side yet.

Very nice, I am really impressed with the level of detail!

I am planning on attempting quite a tall model tonight (a knight).

Have you got a link to the file or did you make it yourself? I have a friend who loves dragons.

Out of interest what made you raise the temperature so high?

Hi kenjara , I've updated my entry to include the link to the file; it is just a bit bigger than the capacity of the printer but rescaling it sorted that out. The temperature increase was a test on my part to see if the first couple of layers stuck to the print bed. It was printed in PLA without raft or brim.

Thank you for the link, I will print a copy for my friend.

Did you see any noticeable difference by increasing the temperature?

I am certainly having better prints with 220 over 200 degrees. I think it depends on the make and type of PLA a bit too.

My friend is always print PLA at 195 degrees.

I have also been playing with various settings to improve the first few layers. Did you see my post about increasing the amount of times the printer creates a skirt around the object.

This has greatly improved my prints as it ensures the printer is applying the filament consistently before getting on to the actual model.

Thanks,

Shane
