Nice progress on the bling. I also had trouble with a few pieces not fitting ,ended up just swapping them around.

Hi Nightwisher

Thanks for looking in and the nice complement. Yeah - this little caper is harder than I initially thought but I'm getting used to it. I'm having a couple of months break from it next month but June progress is following shortly.

Hi Everyone

June 2016 progress report AND photos herewith - I splashed out on a new el-cheapo camera...

Working through Issues 97 to 100 excluding cannons and fighting tops.

* Fitted chain wales, dead eyes and chains last month, so chains just needed anchoring to the hull now. The instruction of issue 100 item 13 seems a little ambiguous and my initial pin line was drawn in the wrong location. The following pics (14, 15 and 16), although not clear, seem to have the line drawn on the centreline of the upper black band. I found Mr Gandale's pictures on this topic, and as expected, confirmed the pin location. Thanks Alan.
The little brass pins are too thick to go into a chainlink with two adjoining links, so I used a fine sewing needle to select the correct link required as the anchor point, then cut the chain before pinning.
The foremast and mizzenmast chains posed no problems.

* First 12 cannons painted and fitted starboard side.

* Complete figurehead dry fitted.

* Second 12 cannons painted and fitted starboard side.

* Belaying pins and racks fitted.

That's all for the present, there will be no more progress now for a few months (perhaps November) as I'm off to UK for a well earned R&R...lol

Kind regards and happy building to All
JohnP

Hi Everyone - I'm baaa-ck!BigGrin

Been busy with other things past 6 months so not a lot of progress to date...Blink - however - showing what I have done the past couple of weeks...BigGrin

I have all 135 issues now to hand.

Issues 104 and 104 refer;

* Made up some more fighting tops and ships launch cradle...Cool

* Completed all remaining cannons and blocks and tackle - mass production style...Cool. I didn't like the shiney silver wire on the blocks and so painted them all black after fitting to blocks. Very tedious but looks much better...Cool (The wire will not blacken in Krick).
Likewise I blackened all the eyelets to match...BigGrin

* Made up and installed the two bilge pumps...Cool

Kind regards and Seasons Greetings to All

Hi Everyone

I haven't been able to log in to the forum since the beginning of the year as my account mysteriously disappeared...Blink Model Space IT finally got me going again...BigGrin

Following is my progress for the year so far.

Jan 2017
Main deck cannons rigged and fitted.

Feb/March
Secondary cannons rigged and fitted. Had a lot of trouble here, as I had made a lot of blocks and tackle in advance and found them too big (long) to allow the cannons to sit close enough to the porthole...Blushing, so had to disassemble them all and start again...Blink I also moved the eyelets further back on the gun carriage...Cool

April
Deck details fitted - ships boat, ships bell and some handrails/stanchions round the two openings in the deck gratings...Cool

May
Extracted all die cast decorations from all issues, the two gangway access doors, then painted and installed generally as directed...Cool Also fitted the steps up the side of the hull...Cool
I shall not add the curly decorations from issue 114 as I think the ship looks a bit busy already...Blink Likewise I shall not be painting the black surrounds of the stern gallery windows...Cool

June-August
Fabricated and fitted all the gun port hatches.
Assembled the three masts and bowsprit. Foremast is glued in but remainder are dry fitted only...Cool

August
All twenty foremast shrouds are fitted...Cool Bit tricky initially, but got easier as I became more adept at it. No pictures of them yet as my new el-cheapo camera is playing up already!...Blushing (maybe I should spend a few more dollars in this area)...Laugh

That's all for now as I'm off to France next week for a couple of months...BigGrin

Happy building to all
JohnP
