Jonny - I've used super glue. It makes everything easier I think but I've tried to use as little as possible due to possible sanding difficulties.

Hi again
I managed to finish my planking tonight.
It's far from perfection but I'm quite happy how it turned out.
Have a look

Hi again
I did some modeling recently so take a look.
The anchor isn't ready yet. As you can see the ring is partly finished and there is no rope attached.

Also my Launch looks much nicer now but again, it isn't finished yet.

As you can probably see I didn't put this photo etched sort of deck. I've build wooden one and painted it black. I thing it looks quite good.

Thanks for watching
Tom

I think a lot of people have opted to do something other than the etched parts. The photos of the actual launch seem to show it boarded throughout.

Loving your launch, very clean build! Cool

Ok shipmates.
I'm back and I'd just want to let you all know, that I've started the actual hull build. I'm going to put some pictures up (hopefully this weekend) so you can see what I've done so far. I'm impressed about her size so far :)

Hi again
As promised before please have a look at my current progress.
Because my last photos aren't showing up - quice reminder:
My Launch (not finished yet unfortunately :) )

My anchor

Hull build.
I'm going for painted finish because this is my first wooden model ship and I don't trust myself with planking :)
I've decided to have cutout but I did some deck planking with 3mm walnut strips.
Have a look at results so far and let me know what do you think about it.

This deck isn't glued in position yet

Nice build...Any reasoning behind the gun deck cutaway being put onto the opposite side to the magazine build or is it personal pref?

Hi there

The cutaway on the opposite side is only my personal preference.
The way I will display the model when is finished requires cutout on the other side :)

Hi again

I was busy for a while - I've done some planking and port cutting. In term sof ports I've decided to follow Zeptrader's idea about port sizes and framing. I've done framing for lowerest deck first and managed to cut out ports on one side of the hull.
My plan for this week is to get all ports cut out and framed, and possibly to carry on with planking.
Planking is nor ideal - but it is my second planking (first was the Launch) and I'm quite proud of myself. I'm going for painted version so all inperfections won't be as visible.
I hope you like it because I love how this ship looks and I can't wait to have all planking done and gallery installed.

Looking smart Tom, glad you liked the way I did the gun ports.

You should be proud, sit and stare in awe, I do BigGrin
