Issue 16 First planking is done. This feels so great and so dreadful at the same time, because now I have a lot of sanding and filling to look forward to.

Actually I prefer that part much more to planking itself... The hull looks so rough just after it's planked but when you start to sand and fill, it's starting to take shape, and get silky-smooth, that's a really enjoyable part. That's true. Really well sanded wood feels so nice to touch, it is almost erotic. Or maybe that's just me.

Turns out I worked well enough I won't need much filling at all, so that's nice. While I'm sanding sanding sanding, I'm also working on the upper deck to try and not get bored. Which makes issue 17.

Looking sweet... Not sure whether I'm going to do the decking with the planks provided or whether I'm going to change it for something a little closer to scale....

Alan If I'm not entirely mistaken I think there was a laser etched deck around one could simply glue on top.

These phases are really short and sweet right now. Issue 18 Strengthened the bow internally with gauze and glue and glued on the fore ship upper deck.

Issue 20 Finished up with the internal strengthening and extended the upper deck in the mid ship. The hull has now also been completely sanded and is smooth as silk. 3-4 spots need a tiny bit of wood filler. All in all this went much better than expected.

With issue 21 the Bismarck is 15% done. There's a bit of warp on the upper deck at the port side but that should remedy itself when it is permafixed to the hull.
