HI all

This might be a stupid post etc, but I was going through the magazine's or our latest dispatch, and couldn't help wonder, will we be getting build instructions for each of the cannons?
Personally, I would like to see a more in depth discussion or build instructions on planking hulls, different methods etc or more in depth diagrams, I just think this would be more appropriate than repeating the cannon builds all the time.

What are your thoughts on this matter?

Best wishes
David

To say nothing of the Anchors.

Excellent point David.

Totally agree. There is no real change in the cannon or anchor building. Clearer advice as to planking, gunports etc would be more beneficial.

Totally agree with you. If there are no changes then only ammendments to the original instructions need be published. Then the extra space could be used for more hints and tips on the build in general. For instance, if one is not painting the build, it would be useful to have suggestions on what oils, stains etc, could be used, and how to use them. I'm sure there are lots more suggestions which could be published to help the new builder along.

Hi All

We aren't going to repeat the gun (or anchor) builds each time - and in general, we haven't. We did think it was important to acknowledge the CMCs* and give a quick summary of what's involved, rather than simply referring readers back to what might be a much earlier issue. In a couple of cases, we have also used this to add a wrinkle that wasn't discussed in depth the first time around (such as giving much more detailed instruction on tying off the anchor cable). From now on we will simply summarise key points and will thin down the information even more.

Thanks
Admin

Hi Admin
Please don't 'thin down' on the information given, we ( myself especially) look forward to having as much information as posible to help us with our build, and yes, it was vey useful to have more detail about tying the anchor cable, that's much appreciated and it's information like this that we could do with. All that is needed is a referral to the issue in which the first set of build instructions were printed, which would leave more space for details of any embellishments that can be made to the basic build.
Thanks for the support you have given to us in the past and really appreciate your help on this forum.

Hi, I agree as Newbie that more detail will be much appreciated. I am stilol scared to death starting planking - loads of info missing about plank bending or even fairing the hull is not very detailed. I spotted in images huge differences about Fairing the stern. How many different models are used for images? The expert tip mag 20 about curved planking is very thin. Blink At this stage I fear we as community could loose a lot participants??? Same time turns up online survey - no surprise??? Hope, they get it better in future but still waiting on more info in detail (mag 29 now - and nope). Thanks we have this forum too but they forgot the tutorial section completetly as it seems to me...

I use tomicks build in conjuction with the mag, then compare the pics to the mag,and then iron out any discrepencies, although some of the steps do seem to jump ahead and miss certain procedures, but I put that down to the experiance of the builder, who assumes we know that bit,and I must say the planking advice was first class.
