What a plane!! Interesting to read the crews' sequence for water pick-up and foam mixing and dropping in that article? I am always amazed that such a large and heavy plane can be dragged into the air by four (relatively) small propellers, especially after picking up water at the rate of 1 ton/second!! Taking the two water-bombers out of service will be a sad loss to the world of aviation.

I would imagine that the internal baffles are a very elaborate affair, and that movement of that sort of liquid volume in an aircraft would be unnerving say the least..

Saw a video on this the other day on facebook. I watched it land on the water etc, but didnt have a clue they were retiring. Such a loss to the fire industry and the aircraft world.
